I'd like to see you back that assertion up.
well i mean there's plenty of us on here who didn't graduate high school (yours truly) or didn't go to college and i think we're a pretty intelligent batch of folks all things considered
well i mean there's plenty of us on here who didn't graduate high school (yours truly) or didn't go to college and i think we're a pretty intelligent batch of folks all things considered
So you prove your argument and assert your intelligence using anecdotal evidence? That doesn't seem right.
so in this case, a get out and vote campaign is extremely critical to get your vote out, that said, trumps larkish campaign has barely pushed such efforts while clintons is a massive oiled machine [editline]6th October 2016[/editline]
well i mean there's plenty of us on here who didn't graduate high school (yours truly) or didn't go to college and i think we're a pretty intelligent batch of folks all things considered
not saying youre stupid or your demographic is but maybe theres something college educated people and pretty much every minority and economist in this country is seeing that they are not
Because there isn't enough non educated white voters anymore. GOP needs to pander to intelligence, something the main GOP hasn't done since 2012.
TBH I don't think they've tried doing that since McCain ran for President.
So you prove your argument and assert your intelligence using anecdotal evidence? That doesn't seem right.
There is a difference between intelligence and knowledge. Intelligence is mental capability, whereas knowledge is what you know. College is not required in order to be either.
I don't understand this dismissal, like everyone refuses each other's points 'cause you're wrong!' and it's so confusing. Do the people mikenopa mentioned just not exist?
well yeah? most assertions about numbers and statistics usually won't be taken seriously if they're based on anecdotal evidence. what the hell is so confusing about that?
well i mean there's plenty of us on here who didn't graduate high school (yours truly) or didn't go to college and i think we're a pretty intelligent batch of folks all things considered
I didn't get no fancy book learnin, and I still know a pandering demagogue when I see one. I guess that's why they call it a cult of personality- because one of the most defining features of a cult is how they pull in even people who should know better.
well i mean there's plenty of us on here who didn't graduate high school (yours truly) or didn't go to college and i think we're a pretty intelligent batch of folks all things considered
To clarify - I wasn't trying to imply that people who don't go to college or high school are stupid or can't be intelligent, but it seemed like Monkah was implying that a college degree is "useless", and that not going to college is the smarter decision (in many cases it may well be, but that is definitely not always the case). Now I'm home and off my phone, so I can answer my own request - getting a college degree is a good idea if you want more pay: http://www.bls.gov/emp/ep_chart_001.htm Also (changing tracks to a different discussion), on the whole, people who get degrees are more intelligent than people who only did high school or less. I (of course) don't think intelligence (or lack thereof) is the sole reason people vote for Trump - if you (for example) never went to college and do unskilled (or low-skill) work, an influx of cheap labour from Mexico will probably be much more scary than if you worked in academics or whatever. That's a legitimate concern in my opinion, but Trump's "solution" is just completely unproductive and will probably make things worse for many of these people.
I'd like to see you back that assertion up.
So you want the whole thread to start taking IQ tests now? What are you trying to accomplish, precisely, besides setting up hoops the rest of us have to jump through?
I'd love to hear your explanation for this one. Man, those dumb rednecks never bothering to go to college... like, how dumb would you have to be to avoid student loans in exchange for what in modern times essentially amounts to a useless certificate?
Only if you do a crap degree from a shite uni/college. While it isn't a guaranteed way to get employed (you get people with top degrees from top unis who are unemployed) people with BA and above tend to find employment if it's in a respected degree from a good uni/college. Anyway it's besides the point, people who are well educated will know exactly why Trump proposes fucking retarded ideas that can't be done even ignoring the unethical parts. Uneducated people might not see why building a giant wall is dumb as fuck while someone with a decent education will.
So you want the whole thread to start taking IQ tests now? What are you trying to accomplish, precisely, besides setting up hoops the rest of us have to jump through?
No? Bolded part of my post to make it clearer, otherwise you can read my post just above yours.
I don't understand this dismissal, like everyone refuses each other's points 'cause you're wrong!' and it's so confusing. Do the people mikenopa mentioned just not exist?
I didn't say intelligent Trump supporters don't exist, not sure how you got that. I'm saying the notion that Mikenopa's anecdotal experience or anyone else's might refute the results of statistically sound polling is incredibly naive and downright incorrect. There's no point to refute, perception simply isn't reality when it comes to this kind of stuff. It's almost as ridiculous a sentiment as "It's hot outside right now, checkmate climate change!", and people argue anecdote over research way too often.
