One percent tax premium? That doesn't sound too much.
It's still too much for something that shouldn't be there in the first place. It's like saying how about everyone here give me one dollar, surely that isn't too much.
lol. I live in Illinois, which I'm pretty sure is the only state with required Physical Education in school
uh, no, there are tons of other states with required PE classes. all of new england i know for a fact has required education, and i'm sure there's a bunch other

I live in Illinois, which I'm pretty sure is the only state with required Physical Education in school pretty sure it doesn't do jack shit. king idiot of February 2012 nominee.
The fuck? Illinois is not the only state that requires P.E.
because your point is idiotic and doesn't make any sense
What doesn't make sense? Video games shouldn't be defended in the manner that they are when clear indications of exessive use start developing health problems the same as with excessive consumption of unhealthy foods. Yet refute the claims that any health problems associated with them are in the hands of stupidity as a viable argument for them problems existing. It's like you, using the term idiotic to prove nothing. If that doesn't make sense i don't know what or how else i can explain it to you.
VAT isn't enough? Surely it would be reasonable to tax violent movies too, then.
VAT does not exist in the US, only in Michigan is there a similar system, but it only applies to businesses. But there is a retail sales tax on most items in most states.

Why does everyone attempt to place the blame on one specific thing for a big problem? Youth violence, obesity, and other related shit has been credited to like 99+ harmless things these past few years. When one "solution" doesn't work, they blame something else. If they really wanted to solve the problem they would've taken a closer look. That's what I see when shit like this pops up, though I may be wrong on that entirely.

By your logic, we better tax everything.

Chances are they don't really give a flying fuck about the actual root cause of the problems, they just want to use it as an excuse to take a dig at something else.
1 percent tax premium on every video game with a teen, mature, or adult only rating.
So basicly every game known to mankind besides mario and sonic games?
Excessive anything can have/cause problems. By your logic, we better tax everything.
Assumptions are awesome. Yeah well like i said, the whole argument is about taxidation in relation to the cause that people are trying to shift in a direction contradictory to theirs. I was specifically replying to Splarg about video games being 'penalized for something they do not deserve'. Like i said again, bullying, 50% of which is funding in this new bill is not a part of any consumer experience that you can tax!
Excessive anything can have/cause problems. By your logic, we better tax everything.
You're oversimplifying things. Some excesses are more dangerous and more harmful than others, and thus more deserving of attention - same reason soda is legal while crystal meth is not. Video games aren't such a problem that the government needs to step in and deter people from buying them, but if they were that bad of a problem, we shouldn't avoid trying to fix it because "why don't we tax people for using headphones, aren't they harmful too?"
a new plan to fight childhood obesity and bullying
Yeah, because violent video games are the cause of both of these, and not because of entire society.
Childhood obesity? Seriously? I want to see the studies done on that.
Done! As this studies say that kids that play "Violent Video Games" are fat. What did you want some actually facts. Bitch please I'm a scientist I don't get paid to find new things I get paid to let assholes taxes shit.
Wouldn't taxing fast food joints be a better idea?
They already tax fast food. And apparently none of you have ever heard of a sin tax. They're making this tax because people will continue to buy violent video games no matter the price, and are probably just saying it's to combat some other stuff because people don't like knowing the government is taking advantage of their hobby.
wait, really? Only one state?
In Wyoming we have to have a P.E class every year up until high school where we need 2 P.E credits, most people take P.E anyway though for the entire four years of HS.
I still don't understand how obesity ties into all this.
In Wyoming we have to have a P.E class every year up until high school where we need 2 P.E credits, most people take P.E anyway though for the entire four years of HS.
required course, all 4 years my teacher this year treats us all like special education kids fwp
tax children. for every single child you have you should have to pay 10% more tax. maybe then people will stop having children that fucking bang and break the windows on my car.
tax children. for every single child you have you should have to pay 10% more tax. maybe then people will stop having children that fucking bang and break the windows on my car.
and maybe then they'll stay off MY lawnn
wait, really? Only one state?
probably only state with a state level program, but most schools here in CA require it until your last 2 years of high school
“Violent video games contribute to some of our societal problems like obesity and bullying, but because they raise a lot of revenue, they can also provide part of the solution,” So does fast food and television, why not put hefty, additional taxes on them as well?
and maybe then they'll stay off MY lawnn
that is exactly why i don't have a lawn.
HEY GUYS GUYS MAYBE IF WE PUT A 1% TAX ON VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES PEOPLE WILL STOP BEING OBESE
tax children. for every single child you have you should have to pay 10% more tax. maybe then people will stop having children that fucking bang and break the windows on my car.
Fuck then where will I get my food from? I need fresh children daily for my child stew.
make violent video games more expensive you still have war advertisements and violent media on television and the internet for free also how the FUCK does this solve obesity i have no fucking clue how that ties into anything
make violent video games more expensive you still have war advertisements and violent media on television and the internet for free also how the FUCK does this solve obesity i have no fucking clue how that ties into anything
My thoughts exaclty. Also this is like comparing video games to alcohol. Alcohol does have taxes, but video games aren't drugs.
What the fuck
