You think anything would ever get done in this country if he were? Hahaha wow.
He's less of a joke than Abbott
every pic of Abbott has him looking slimy as fuck all I can think of is that pic, 'Tony Abbott, Prime Sinister'
I wouldn't call Labor left if you take into account all the factions and form an opinion based on the general policies of Labor, they seem to swing between being slightly left and slightly right on the whole. The NBN was a joke. It should've been added into the budget expenses so we'd have transparency on exactly the costs of it and how much Labor was putting into it, and they sold much of it out to Telstra and monopolized the system once again. Hell, and the coverage map of the NBN was abysmal. Not saying none is better, I'm saying it needed a lot more funding than it got, and it's shit under any party, just heavily rolled back under the Coalition. The original plan for the NBN was great under Labor, just as time went on they managed to screw it up by siphoning funding from it. I agree on the points about education and health, this budget is plain stupid. Nobody is going to react well to cuts to health, it scares people. Even if it does only cost (at most) $70 a year for people on concession cards, people are going to fear more cuts. And the education cuts are just blatantly idiotic, however I do think us uni attendees should have more force on us to pay back HECS, but not the way the coalition is going about it, I personally think the threshold of income before HECS is deducted from your income should be lowered instead. And same-sex marriage doesn't seem likely in any of the parties because for some fucked reason the majority of Australians oppose it. (There were some polls a while ago run on it). However as time goes on its looking more and more likely. Also Abbott should gtfo, he's an idiot and can't manage himself in public. It's like a backbencher attack-dog somehow managed to become PM. Turnbull isn't exactly a good alternative though, he's the single least trustworthy person that could become PM in the coalition. Hockey is much better, can actually talk properly and present his ideas, replies and answers in a coherent way instead of uhm aahh mm uh ah uh. He can actually follow a topic subject and form a nonbullshit reply every once in a while, which is rare for a politician.
I think this is the first time I've really agreed with you, there's some things in the budget I think is good like working for the dole (shouldn't of taken that long to put something in like that) but the cuts to education and health are outrageous They keep telling the state premier's that they have to manage it themselves but a lot of that management comes from the government giving the states the money to make sure they can make those sectors run smoothly Also the budget cuts to the ABC and SBS are retarded But the fact he's pulled a Julia Gillard and lied about a lot of things is laughable, especially since Murdoch Media has not criticised the government at all but gave Labor a bunch of shit for lying on their election promises
He'll reach hell and take back his throne.
And get promptly thrown out again. There's a reason why he left.
I wonder how many promises Tony Abbott broke, if someone made a bingo with Tony Abbott as the main focus, I am pretty sure it would either be a Bingo, or halfway.
I'm starting to get pissed off by the media coverage and people's responses on Tony Abbott. It's exactly what happened with Julia Gillard and the 'right' except reversed for the 'left' and it sickens me a little how much anti-liberals are expecting Tony won't be here for quite some time, which is again exactly what happpened with Julia and the carbon tax.
His party did a good job of making the former government look awful. The former government had a couple of leadership spills (prime minister lost a lot of popularity so there was a big thing where he was replaced with another member of the party, then after some time the same thing happened to her and they re-elected the first prime minister) which, combined with constant flak from the opposition and the media meant that basically no one trusted them. In the public eye it seemed like who we were voting for might not be who is actually in office later in the term. Basically, Tony Abbott won by not being Kevin Rudd.
Over the two terms Labor had, they managed to piss off a lot of people with broken promises, changing their policies and values because of the Greens and independents strangle-hold on them. And I think you fail to realize the point of the opposition is to oppose and criticize the government and provide alternative policies to win the favor of the people and do what they think is best for the country. (Sadly it's more of the former in Australian politics). At the time of the election Labor was a mess, they had leadership spills and major divides in their party. The coalition looked much better as a united party, they had a solid foundation and had their ministers on-side in comparison to Labor. Also Abbott got his fair share of flak if you look back, because he was an idiot as usual. It's just that Gillard managed to sink to his level of idiocy in the public eye, then another display of disunity in the party by re-electing Rudd just topped it off.
every pic of Abbott has him looking slimy as fuck all I can think of is that pic, 'Tony Abbott, Prime Sinister'
Yeah, he should apologize to everyone for being ugly hey. But no really look at this sexy fuck, mmmmmm jesus christ though, he's definitely not a looker.
I wonder how many promises Tony Abbott broke, if someone made a bingo with Tony Abbott as the main focus, I am pretty sure it would either be a Bingo, or halfway.
Surprisingly not many, he's been careful about it and pulled some sly moves to avoid breaking them. As sad as it sounds you could probably count them on one hand. And yes he is being criticized about them, and rightly so.
I'm starting to get pissed off by the media coverage and people's responses on Tony Abbott. I've heard so many liberal supporters be totally against Abbott recently, even my parents which I was quite surprised by. I'm hoping he doesn't even make one term and resigns.
I kinda see why he didn't declair it but there was defienately some favor going on there. maybe she did earn a 60k scholarship on merit but they went and bent the rules so that she could get it ahead of everyone else which wasn't right

The well of trusting politicians has been poisoned to the point where I think its just going to be assumed they're all liars from now on.

It'd suck to have earned something from merit then have thousands of people think that you don't actually deserve it. However if it was awarded, that's plain bullshit. I don't think that's ever been the case, the well has been full of poison since its very existance.
Not only do I now know more about US politics than my own, I now know more about Australian politics as well.
Not only do I now know more about US politics than my own, I now know more about Australian politics as well.
Our system and your system is all under the Westminster system so its pretty easy to understand the workings of things
But no really look at this
Looking at this though it made me realise that no matter how tech savvy, smart, educated w.e. a lot of people in a society get(such as in australia), the instinctive, animal-drive go heads-in ,shoot first ask questions later type of characters, those who improvise, who got an intuitive mind get ahead of everyone, they lead. You might think they have it easy, but it's just that we need those type of fellas, even when we hate their guts.Even when they're goddamn tyrants.Even when they make a fool of themselves they got charisma that they would lack if it weren't for their position, their authority. Cause' he's most definitely nowhere near that bad, and not half as bad as what people on this forum make him out to be. He's just your average politician, just out there lookin' to fill his own pockets. He just lacks some of the speaking skills other politicians have to the general public, and generally isn't suited for a figurehead position. Back when he was a normal minister he'd dish it out pretty well in parliament, even if that's totally irrelevant bullshit parliament banter. But don't forget, ever since a few years ago these people started earning more than the president of the US. Please enlighten me how tough it is being the PM of Australia, to give them a mandate to get this absurd Prime Ministerial pay. Here Also why the shit did it jump almost 100k in 2011? I didn't even realize that until now.
I thought J gillz increased it because she knew she wasn't going to last forever as PM. Then again I don't follow politics fanatically so I may be wrong.
Don't forget you're on Facepunch.
What was that supposed to mean?
Also are you likening Abbott to a tyrant?
Not at all; I was reffering to tyrants as old as caesar or as new as gaddafi/kim/ex soviet leaders in east europe.
But don't forget, ever since a few years ago these people started earning more than the president of the US. Please enlighten me how tough it is being the PM of Australia.
Don't be a fool; people don't get paid based on how tough the job is or how hard working they are.

I picked up my entire life and moved to the other side of the state to be a part of this institute. I’ve asked about scholarships to make it easier on myself and my family financially but every time I’ve been told there are none available.”
Hooo boy.
