• Disability benefits: PIPs should be for 'really disabled'
I never said disability benefits should be stopped, I said the government is cutting back the funding and making it harder to claim as people who work (and pay taxes) are actually in a worse position than some benefits claimants. The government don't want this because unsurprisingly it allows the system to be abused.
Oh please, the government isn't cutting things back to make things more equal to those who are fit to work, they're cutting back to save money and making cuts on those that are the easiest and their favourite target. Yes, some people (a marginally small amount i may add) may on paper, seem like they're better off than those who are working, that doesn't mean everyone on disability, many who struggle with it and are infact, getting quite a bit less than those who do work, should get shafted for it. I mean, a lawyer makes more money than a cashier, so by that logic, lawyers should get paycuts to make their pay equal to a cashiers. The "abuse" of disability benefits, totals up to around MAYBE 2% of claims (that includes all abuse, even unintentional), but the numerous government cutbacks will effect 100% of disability claimants, many of which are already below the line, struggling, not making ends meet. Hell, recently ESA got slashed to £73 something a week, to be equal with jobseekers (which frankly i think is an underpaid amount anyway, given living costs and costs associated with trying to get a job) completely ignoring the fact that people with disabilities, especially physical ones have a LOT of transportation costs on a day to day basis, whether its for hospital appointments, treatment, or even just to get around. The way things are going, with benefits, it'll end up, you'd have to be a corpse to qualify for them, but then you're dead and thus don't need them. Having disabilities doesn't make things just a little awkward, they can often interfere with and even go so far as to flat out dictate how you live your life, it's not a minor inconvinience that you just have to shrug and get over, many disabilities out there are crippling and life altering at the least.
people who work (and pay taxes) are actually in a worse position than some benefits claimants.
Blame their fucking employers. I'm sorry mate, but if you get paid below welfare levels for a full time job, that's not welfare claimants fault- that's all on your boss. This is the same line of thinking as "why should we feed criminals when law abiding citizens go hungry!?". Instead of victimising the unemployed and the disabled, so that everyone is at a "fair" level of poverty and misery- why don't we leave the disabled the fuck alone and work towards improving the conditions of working people, and ensuring they are paid a living wage?.
As a successful applicant, here's my advice: don't sugarcoat anything or try to be optimistic when describing your problems to them, let them know exactly how you feel in those hours when your illness is bearing down upon you.
Thanks, yeah no way, that would be really counter productive. I have an attorney and a strong case, I was already found disabled by my state so odds are good the feds will too. I'm hopeful.
As someone who suffers from both Major Depression and GAD, I hear you man. Personally, getting a diagnosis was theraputic in and of itself for me. Knowing that there is an issue (a broken wrist, like you said) and that there are active, medically sound steps to take to alleviate the symptoms was uplifting for me after suffering undiagnosed for so long. On topic, it seems Tories across the pond suffer from 'till it happens to me' syndrome just like our Republicunts here do. "Gays should die, until my son is gay. "Obamacare is the devil, until my wife gets cancer" "Drug users are scum, until my cousin struggles with heroin use" Same old fucking story with these pieces of shit. Zero empathy.
Or the "I support US intervention in the middle east but I would never want any of my relatives to enroll"
Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39097019 Disappointing that someone so ignorant and ableist is in a position to do something like this. Typical Tories I suppose...
This made me angry. Fucking bitch!!
I think this is more aimed at lazy NEETs than people who have physical problems. the government is probably wondering why some people are getting like £1600 a month from the taxpayer for being depressed/anxious when in reality a large % of working people also suffer from it. I understand there are genuine sufferers but it'd be naive to think it's not being abused.
i seriously doubt anyone gets £1600pm for mental issues like depression and anxiety, pip does make it easier to claim for mental health issues thats why it was brought in. even with higher level DLA and the associated esa components i dont get anywhere near that, i cant think of any benefits that would increase it to that level, even if you include housing benefit its a lot lower than that to address some later comments while its a good thing disability exist i think being on it long term brings disadvantages if you feel able to work at a later point your fucked especially in the current job market where university graduates have to settle for working in starbucks somebody claiming both pip and esa gets less than a quarter of what is considered a living wage
lmao people who say people "live it up" on disability. The max disability payment doesn't even put you halfway above the poverty line. It's like 3/4 of my rent alone. [editline]28th February 2017[/editline] and don't say "food stamps" becau in many states being on disability disqualifies you for food stamps because it's above the food stamp cash income limit and many states don't have an exception for disability payments
People who demonize the disabled, the poor, and the unfortunate as "lazy welfare queens" are fucking scum.
People who demonize the disabled, the poor, and the unfortunate as "lazy welfare queens" are fucking scum.
They tend to be obedient morons too who wouldn't ever consider taking any action against an employer or government because they idolise them and see their wealth and power as justified. Effectively they're simple minded bootlickers who seriously lack empathy and think that anyone who doesn't work is just looking for a free ride.
People who demonize the disabled, the poor, and the unfortunate as "lazy welfare queens" are fucking scum.
The media and politicians who propagate that mindset are even worse.
