Why is this even a controversy? It's a clear cut case, the marine is in the wrong.
Source: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national/2012/04/marine-discharged-criticizing-obama-facebook/51570/ What the fuck... So long free speech I guess.
You give up free speech when you join the military.
Why is this even a controversy? It's a clear cut case, the marine is in the wrong.
There isn't. Faze is overreacting again.
Are you in the fucking military?
My dad was, and I heard all the stories...believe me. This was never one of them. But excuse me for not being in the military, on the surface...this looks pretty shitty.
My dad was, and I heard all the stories...believe me. This was never one of them. But excuse me for not being in the military, on the surface...this looks pretty shitty.
And did your dad talk shit to the president with a megaphone in the middle of the FOB?
What people say and do are two different things. Was he actually not following orders?
I doubt the military is going to be giving soldiers the benefit of the doubt when soldiers are saying things like this. It's like if you were to say "I'm going to blow up the base" in a facebook message. You think they wouldn't reprimand you unless you actually did it? Imagine if he was serious and they DID write it off. Then when an order comes from the president and he doesn't follow it, it could potentially put people in jeopardy. You think the military is going to risk that?
My dad was, and I heard all the stories...believe me. This was never one of them. But excuse me for not being in the military, on the surface...this looks pretty shitty.
Well I am. I can tell you with 100% certainty that the marine was in the wrong. If you went up to your boss told him you were not following his orders. He would fire you, simple as that. In the military saying this about the president is the same as telling your boss that. This guy was a jackass for posting this publicly.
My dad was, and I heard all the stories...believe me. This was never one of them. But excuse me for not being in the military, on the surface...this looks pretty shitty.
You clearly have no idea of the sort of problems insubordination can cause in a military, if soldiers don't respect their officers it can lead to problems out on the field and possibly even the death of soldiers.
Why is this even a controversy? It's a clear cut case, the marine is in the wrong.
Because obama
What the fuck... So long free speech I guess.
That's the military for you, you sign a contract and you have to follow orders. They don't want an image of soldiers that disagree with the president.
It's precisely what happened to MacArthur.
What people say and do are two different things. Was he actually not following orders?
That doesn't matter at all. Nor would it in any other job. If I went up to my supervisor and told him that I would not do what I was told to do, I would be fired.
Surely Obama can make a jump on this matter himself?
"Say that to my face fucker not online and see what happens"
This is basically the same as going up to my CO and telling "fuck you I'm not following anything you say" my ass would be thrown out instantly. You can disagree with your superior's views or whatever but in the end they are the boss and you will respect and listen to them.
Minus the going up to part
Yeah but you won't get discharged like this dude did.
Yes you will. He got an OTH (other than honorable) administrative separation. I see it ALL the time. This just happened to be high profile because of the president and the fact that they media made a big deal out of it.
Owned. Don't like the president, don't join the military Problem solved?
Owned. Don't like the president, don't join the military Problem solved?
Don't like the president, don't bitch about him in a public forum while attempting to align yourself with the military.
You guys do realize the military can't afford to become a political battle ground? There is too much money, funding and other such things floating around. They have to be apolitical and pragmatic. That's why you can never say anything political while in the military. This is as much a self preservation tactic as it is a thing of respect.
It's precisely what happened to MacArthur.
and more recently, General McChrystal
OP is incredibly dense if he can't understand this.
OP is incredibly dense if he can't understand this.
faze isn't dense. For every smart post he has 100 dumb ones. That's all. Just like the rest of us. (Except for me, I have a 1:99 ratio)
Uhhh, he like, get's paid money to follow orders. I will never respect military people, they are NOT heroes, they signed their life away to be contract killers for the government.
Uhhh, he like, get's paid money to follow orders. I will never respect military people, they are NOT heroes, they signed their life away to be contract killers for the government.
People don't usually go into the military to be a hitman. They go to have the huge benefits, job security, expert training and schooling and for the culture. The military is a great life for some people if you manage to stay away from war. Then suddenly, all these poor guys are told to go here/there and are put in prison if they don't like their orders. I have no respect for the military culture or life, but soldiers are still people who hate the crap war brings.
Uhhh, he like, get's paid money to follow orders. I will never respect military people, they are NOT heroes, they signed their life away to be contract killers for the government.
You're a god-damned moron. Shitloads of the people I have met here joined because they actually did want to help the country, and lots of other people don't really have alternatives. Almost NOBODY joins because they want to be a fucking killer and you're an asshole for suggesting that.
Uhhh, he like, get's paid money to follow orders. I will never respect military people, they are NOT heroes, they signed their life away to be contract killers for the government.
You really are a fucking retard
a good question is why the fuck is that in the oath to begin with
Why is it in the oath to swear allegiance to your country when you are serving your country? ...wat
Uhhh, he like, get's paid money to follow orders. I will never respect military people, they are NOT heroes, they signed their life away to be contract killers for the government.
Because the Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, Army, or Air Force, have never EVER provided aid to people in any way shape or form. Nope. All they do is find and kill people! Read a fucking book. Anyway, if you're a soldier, the President is your boss. It's that simple.
Since this would technically count as insulting a superior officer, with Obama being Commander in Chief, this kind of makes sense since it's practically insubordination.
Basically this.
Its the same for the rest of the world, faze. Every single country.
You're a god-damned moron.
