most couples only have 1-2 kids. $100 and a top up every once in a while isn't much to pay for the safety of your child and the benefit of not having to share your phone with them (which practically nobody does)
Really? Because I work retail and I see kids playing games on their parents' phones every day.
and why would you need a seperate profile for that?
and why would you need a seperate profile for that?
Why would you need a separate phone for it?
you get your child a phone so you can stay in contact with them while they're away. i never said they need one for playing games in the car
I find this super useful, I can let people do phone calls without them looking through my other shit
I find this super useful, I can let people do phone calls without them looking through my other shit
Is this really an issue for you? You're willing to trust someone with your phone but you're afraid they might peak into your things?
Is this really an issue for you? You're willing to trust someone with your phone but you're afraid they might peak into your things?
yes. That and if the phone is stolen and the thief is stupid, they might just use the guest account as if it was their regular phone and allow me to track my phone down.
Is this really an issue for you? You're willing to trust someone with your phone but you're afraid they might peak into your things?
Well, yeah. I'd let somebody use my dialer to make a phone call but I don't need them going down my contacts list. Fortunately, though, if you have a lockscreen on phones you can press the emergency dialer button and people can make phonecalls without ever gaining access to the phone proper.
yes.
It's a phone. You don't need multi-user security on a fucking phone.
Why not? Because you say it? Believe it or not, phones nowadays are almost equal to laptop computers. What's wrong with having user accounts? I can imagine it being especially useful on the tablet the entire family uses.
iirc the emergency dialer only allows you to call 911 or 999 or whatever other emergency number
My GS5 allows you to call anyone from the emergency call thing. edit: Actually nevermind you can only call people on the emergency contacts list. still, I don't think this feature would really be that useful.
Giving someone full access to your phone to make a call and having your phone stolen are different things.
Either way I want to be able to restrict access to stuff on my phone from other people. Until Android L actually gets released, you would have to use those app lockers that doesn't always work.
It's a phone. You don't need multi-user security on a fucking phone.
well I want it. It's super useful on a tablet so it will be useful on a phone.
Probably useful if you have kids.
my htc already has a kids mode
Been using the dev preview for a while now. It's a nice, if subtle update, mostly tweaking the UI a little here and there, but nothing mindblowingly different from KitKat. Also don't get the beta it's buggy as fuck, like the soft buttons disappearing kind of buggy.
Finally, I can turn off all my porn related apps for when my family asks "can I use your phone".
you get your child a phone so you can stay in contact with them while they're away. i never said they need one for playing games in the car
What if your kid wants to play a game on your phone, but you don't want them accidentally deleting business related stuff?
Is this really an issue for you? You're willing to trust someone with your phone but you're afraid they might peak into your things?
dick pics man
I really don't want to step on the wrong foot but the primary people whining about android adding this is people that boast about iOS stuff. So what that they added this? You might not find it useful(or you might and just cant use it) but it doesn't mean that the other 70% of android smartphone users wont.

Still waiting if Android L will support the Nexus 4
Still waiting if Android L will support the Nexus 4
It probably will, it's just the dev version doesn't..
I never store anything on my phone that might get me "the looks", why would I ever do that wtf
I never store anything on my phone that might get me "the looks", why would I ever do that wtf
well then if you're in a cave or something where there's no 3G reception you can still jack it on the go
It probably will, it's just the dev version doesn't..
And maybe I'll be able to make it through half a day without needing to recharge it too with their new project volta
I never store anything on my phone that might get me "the looks", why would I ever do that wtf
If I wanna jerk it but am stuck in bad traffic.
you're going to share your smartphone with your child? just buy a moto E or something even cheaper with parental controls
you could also use this to make your child unable to download apps without your permission 2 accounts, your kids and yours set as "Admin"
There's 2 modes on multiple users for Android Normal and restricted, normal is like if the device was yours. Your able to use anything, download anything. Your photos are separated by the main account photos (neither can see each others documents) Restricted is just limiting apps and functions to the user, so that's what kid mode on most phones are. Just a restricted account
If you have shit on your phone you don't want anyone else to see beyond contacts then you have too much shit on your phone or are relying on it too much for tasks that a tablet or a computer should be doing instead.
Just because you've never owned hardware that was made later than 1999 doesn't mean phones and computers have the same limitations.
