How about a thread where you figure out how to ignore opinions you clearly can't wrap your mind around? I never even once said they were objectively better, merely that I preferred older ones and don't want a new one, so I don't get why your panties are in a twist yet again.
My 'panties' aren't in a twist, but tbh I speak for not just myself when I say that we are sick of seeing you rambling on about muh old cars in ANY thread which mentions cars.
Exactly how do you propose we fund that for every single American?
The Swedish guy said "all cars" and somehow you figure he merely meant "all American cars"? :v:
Should be mandatory in all cars.
Yeah I really don't like the idea of my car freaking out and calling the cops every time I plow my car into a deer. That seems like a huge waste of resources considering that my local police force (the county sheriff) has a 20+ minute drive to find out that they've wasted their time. That would happen once and I'd find that fucking thing and rip it out ASAP.
Nothing concerns me more in the car industry today than the amount of features that reduce the responsibility of the driver. When the car can handle every important aspect of driving including taking responsibility everyone suffers.

this system wi be required for all new cars sold in the EU after 2018 http://www.pcworld.com/article/2915872/eu-cars-to-get-automatic-emergency-call-system-from-2018.html once it gets there it will probably be standard for all new cars sold anywhere after a while [editline]9th December 2015[/editline]
Chances are they would try to call you through your vehicle, at which point you could tell them everything is fine.
it does automatically place a call
Chances are they would try to call you through your vehicle, at which point you could tell them everything is fine.
What, if I hit kid on his bike are they just going to take my word for it that it was a deer? Seems like a stupid system.
it does automatically place a call
Plus there is this too, which was the original problem. I've hit four deer in a fucking row one year, lost a headlight, my hood was fucked, my passenger door was completely unable to be opened, (deer ran into me) my fender needed to be replaced, (another deer ran into me) and my windshield was cracked. (deer jumped on to my car) If the cops were called for each time I'd probably get in trouble, so yeah I'd totally trash that piece of shit. Though on the plus side I didn't have to go grocery shopping for months, I wasn't going to leave all that meat on the road.
If we could mandate dashcams here as well, that would be nice.
What I want to know is how she managed to hit something hard enough to trigger that system, yet soft enough to not obliterate the vital systems on that car. Modern cars are about as tolerant to bumping into things as ancient vases and tend to just crumple up into a useless ball at the first sight of impact. By design, no less. And then how are you going to get a $45,000 car into my driveway when a $4000 car is the max I can afford? And for that matter how ya gonna get me to drive it? 'Cause I don't want a modern car in the first place and ittl end up sitting in the driveway while I continue to drive my old pickup and my '99 P71. You gonna fund retrofits instead? Yeah that's a great idea, 'specially on my '85 F150 where I know what systems are necessary for it to run and can very easily just put an on/off switch for the new shit.
It'll be like seatbelts, they wont force every car to get them but every car produced after will have them. If you have an old ass car made before seatbelts you can legally drive without them.
