• Mormons continue to baptise Dead Jews, inciting anger in everyone (including me)

In the Mormon religion they believe you have to be baptized to get into heaven, them doing this is basically baptizing themselves through some weird process that transfers to the dead person's soul or whatever. It's pretty much respect to those people, because in their eyes they're getting the person into heaven. And if you're an atheist, you know it's not causing any harm to anyone anyway. I don't see why this pisses people off. It's not like they're taking their dead bodies and dunking them in water.
it's not that important for jews because we (well not me personally) believe that going to heaven relies on being a good person and nothing else.
I wish all religions were like this, the world would be much nicer. Heck look at how Catholicism has a pitch of that doctrine in it, and thus a huge portion of homeless shelters, charities, etc are Catholic.
For people still concerned about sources, 10 seconds of typing "Daniel Pearl" into Google News came up with this http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57387544/mormons-reportedly-baptized-slain-wsj-reporter/
Not trying to be "that guy", but Mormons believe that when they baptize the dead (via proxy), the deceased's spirit has the option of choosing to accept Mormonism or not. This website, even if it's entirely satirical, only really shows how gays(?) don't understand how the process works. The dead Mormon would have to accept being gay, they just don't suddenly become gay. Similarly, the dead Jew doesn't suddenly become Mormon against their will, they have the option of accepting it.
Yeah, but if my religion (or lack thereof was part of my identity), I would be upset about having the decision to be baptized foisted upon me. I understand that it's something they think the soul can 'accept or deny', but I still don't like the idea of it.
Don't Jewish beliefs kind of vary depending on which denomination you're part of?
not for the afterlife no. judaism has very little to say about the afterlife regardless of which sect they follow.

I've never really understood Jewish belief myself.

I should link this to my mormon ex. I wonder what she'd say about it. She'd probably cry though, she's just that kind o' mormon.
But it doesn't. It simply provides the option to the dead in the event that they abruptly decide to become a Mormon after death. It's entirely motivated by good intentions; I know if I were basically standing at the gates of Hell with some pointy-horned dude saying "ya shoulda been a Mormon fuckface" I'd feel sort of screwed over by the system. It's sort of a divine escape route in case anybody needs it. If they don't, great. If they do, it's there for them.
Jews don't have a hell
Jews don't have a hell
an old jewish joke about that would be: the priest says to the rabbi: "in the after-life you'll be reunited with your family where you can live together in your days to follow." the rabbi replies "only in christianity does such a hell exist!"
