It's weird that statues with full bodies would be buried that deep under the ground... it just doesn't make any sense...
Have they done any major digging around them? Large scale excavations?
Because i'm getting this 'Ancient buried civilization' idea...
(I wonder how truly old those statues are. PLUS, they were built around a volcano... Maybe it's possible that the volcano was active during that time and erupted. Burying everything that used to be there)

Of course that was out of my own head and is completely subject to being wrong because i've never done any reading on these things.
Easy, its the soil. Years and years of erosion and displacement of sediment will sink something given enough time.
what's even cooler is that the descendants that live there say that the statues walked to where they are. The way they replicated there would go perfectly with that claim since they are technically being "walked" into position. Through legend and stories throughout the hundreds of generations that could easily be turned into the tale of how the statues themselves walked.
So basically, this has baffled scientists for centuries and now two guys come up with the amazing idea that "they pulled it with ropes".
Would be a bitch if it fell over while walking
The initial design called for them to have peniseses(penii?), but someone in the tribe said "I trip over my own cock once in a while, how the fuck are we supposed to walk that thing if we put a dick on it?"

How can you use that technique with the massive bodies?
Shhh shut up, delete that post. No one is supposed to see that.
I thought they have a huge battery compartment behind them?
