Are you joking?
yeah uh that's PJ Harvey one of the most prolific artists working today and she's written at least 13 songs i can think of that beat the shit out of We Are The Champions maybe if we were talking about Bohemian Rhapsody or Under Pressure the bar would be slightly higher, but that was a recent performance and it's way better than that throw-away from one of Queen's worst albums.
i've heard catchier.

The sudden raises in her voice sounded like a kid going through puberty and made me cringe every time it happened.

Have they done anything recently? [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] Also Weezer deserves an honorable mention for pretty much all of their songs.
They're fucking nuts. I hate Queen.
I hate my generation's music, the music these days is shit
Music is basically as good as it's ever been. It's just the only music we bother to remember from the past is the good music. I mean if you lived through the 60s, 70s, 80s you'd probably have heard plenty of shit music that was modern at the time, but only the gems, songs like Hotel California, Sweet Child Of Mine, Smells Like Teen Spirit, or Stairway To Heaven are the ones that get remembered. Ask me what songs I'll remember from this generation and I could come up with a few. From the top of my head, "Hey Ya," "Crazy," "Fly Away," "Drops of Jupiter," Most of which don't have the same 'huge' feel as the songs from the 60s-80s did, but they're still (for the most part) really lively songs that get most people pumped up and singing along. [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] Time acts as a very good filter. The shit is forgotten, passes through without anyone remembering it. But the gems - they got caught in the filter like a nugget of gold in a sieve, they're stuck in place and they're constantly remembered.
This is what i immediately thought when i read OP's

so how does We Are The Champions stack up against those songs? it doesn't.
I played Final Countdown when Portal 2 was few minutes away from release
I'm surprised that some dumbass hasn't tried posting Never Gonna Give You Up.
They obviously haven't heard Friday.

For music class last year, we had practical every friday, and we'd have to have a new song to perform each time. Our teacher gave us a new theme each week, and one time it was 60's music. I know fuck all about 60's music so I googled a list of 60's number ones, and I was absolutely shocked by how few of them I knew. Then I asked my dad and he came up with a load of famous songs from that era off the top of his head that I knew, but weren't on the list. A lot of the stuff from this era that will be remembered aren't exactly number ones, songs like that are produced to stick in people's heads for a while, until it makes enough money, then fades away.
