Honestly, I didn't really read the entire article, but it wasn't necessary. Here's my observation. We have a right to teach what we believe, and there's apparently no problem with letting anyone and everyone apply to be a teacher of anything in public school; why do we care if they have an opinion, since you're bound to get a mouthful of most teachers' philosophies anyway? You're not being forced to agree, and if you are, then the teacher should be fired. New Mexico's legislature is well within their right to support protecting this, or any other viewpoint for that matter--it's in the Constitution for our own protection, people. Don't like it? Move. Preferrably to China, where personal opinions are illegal. I also find the picture ironic, more because of how true it is despite it's context.
Because Teaching with a bias makes the person receiving the teaching take over that bias, that's how teaching generally works. Your idea would work if people weren't impressionable at all, sadly, they are impressionable to an extreme degree.
Roswell isn't a conspiracy, fucking learn what one is. :colbert:
Officially it's a weather balloon, according to the internet it's a crashed alien space craft that the US government covered up and may or may not have shipped to Area 51.

makes me wonder how the rest of the US views new england in terms of education
That's a pretty shit way of looking at things. They shouldn't simply be given free reign to fuck up the education of thousands upon thousands of children. One part of a country should not be allowed to voluntarily whither and die, even if it's the state's right to do so.
yea they should, they voted for these people, they should be able to fuck their own shit up. the truth should be available, but never forced on someone unwillingly(or forced on their kid).
Heard of the water cycle? It does not accumulate, it goes back to being normal water. It'll probably rain more, and that's it. It would have to be quite an extraordinary production effort to get anywhere close to the Earth's water vapour production and have that persist.
i wont argue about this, because you obviously know more than me
Indeed, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't switch to electric cars until then. It would probably be cheaper to put e.g. filters on one power plant than it's equivalent in cars.
it means that we should be focusing on the problem on both fronts.
Yes. iirc New York City uses sewage plant gases to power those facilities at least partially, for example.
cool. i love recycling shit like this. it appeases the part of me that strives for efficiency
This doesn't even make sense. New Mexico's a pretty damn liberal place in my experience.
This doesn't even make sense. New Mexico's a pretty damn liberal place in my experience.
im pretty sure if you go to the cities they are pretty liberal and if you go to the country its pretty conservative, like most places
im pretty sure if you go to the cities they are pretty liberal and if you go to the country its pretty conservative, like most places
Like 60% of the population lives in cities. This isn't going to go anywhere, the liberals in NM are pretty outspoken.
Roswell is a town. You might be thinking of the Roswell Incident.
No, I'm pretty sure they shipped a whole town from New Mexico to Nevada.
is there something in the water? there seems to be a lot of stupid going around lately.
The Mexicans are poisoning the water supply to make everyone dumb. their softening you up so they can invade
evolution a fairy tail. oh the irony.
yea they should, they voted for these people, they should be able to fuck their own shit up. the truth should be available, but never forced on someone unwillingly(or forced on their kid).
It's not their kids' fault their parents are window-licking retards, they should not have their education ruined by them.
i know, im not saying that it should be taught, im saying that it hardly ever is, at least in the "civilized" united states. hell, if new mexico wants to fuck up their science education and put themselves lower than they already are they can be my guest. if we are putting a shit load of it in the air daily its bound to have an effect. im saying that electric cars arent a good option if the electricity is generated by fossil fuels. we need to set up nuclear, hydroelectric, solar(where possible), and wind power before we can switch to electric cars more effectively. in the united states? really, can you source that? i thought water vapor had a greater effect on heat trapping than co2. dont you guys have a lot of nuclear power? plus a lot of hydroelectric i presume. that makes a big difference since a lot of your energy isnt fossil fuel. the us has a lot more fossil fuel use. not really, the science behind climate change is hardly precise. we dont know how badly we effect it and there are different numbers from different scientists.
I don't believe in climate change, OR grammar!
It's not their kids' fault their parents are window-licking retards, they should not have their education ruined by them.
yea they can. parents have a "right" to their children, and how to raise them, it is not abusive or negligent to teach them wrong science.
I don't believe in climate change, OR grammar!
good for u

Last I checked, people who cannot do their jobs right get fired. Keep religious indoctrination in private schools.
yea they can. parents have a "right" to their children, and how to raise them, it is not abusive or negligent to teach them wrong science. good for u
Just like it's not abusive or negligent to tell your children that they should worship the zombie carpenter and the sun god, altering their worldview irreparably. But seriously, are your shift keys broken? Because you just come off extremely uneducated. Much like the ill-informed children we're talking about.

I think it's supposed to imply that that the forums are not worthy of the effort involved in capitalizing sentences.
the lower case thing is done because there's no real point to having caps except to appear smarter
the lower case thing is done because there's no real point to having caps except to appear smarter
*blink* [editline]8th February 2011[/editline]
Typing in lower case letters is some weird thing people on FP do.
*blink*
blink?
blink?
Blink because I can think of no possible reason how one would use capitalization to appear more intelligent. If they are making a conscious effort to capitalize words in order to appear smarter, it's far more likely that the content of their communication will be so incomprehensibility stupid that all the capitalization in the world will not save them. It's useful, because it adds redundancy to other visual cues that form the structure of written communication. Other examples include spaces, commas and periods. Consider the following sentences: new mexico bill seeks to protect anti-science education. New Mexico bill seeks to protect anti-science education. Proper capitalization would solve the problem that many had when reading the title, myself included, thinking that it was a new bill in Mexico, rather than a bill in New Mexico. Why do we capitalize titles like we do, adding ambiguity? Fucked if I know, English is a crazy thieving language anyhow.
I believe evolution and creationism go hand in hand. I'm obviously retarded.
yeah i don't know what you want me to say bitches be crazy
fuck this 'reading' and 'writing' shit, plug an ethernet cable straight into the back of my head
fuck this 'reading' and 'writing' shit, plug an ethernet cable straight into the back of my head
now ur learning
I believe evolution and creationism go hand in hand. I'm obviously retarded.
Yeah you should probably see someone about that. Unless you're talking about intelligent design, in which case... you're still in trouble. The designer obviously wasn't too intelligent if 98% of the designs went extinct. Unless they're all there to test our faith, like, you know, the dinosaurs and shit. [editline]8th February 2011[/editline]
now ur learning
Seriously, I fucking wish.
goddamnit, I thought we got rid of this
I'm obviously retarded.
That's already been established. [editline]8th February 2011[/editline]
the lower case thing is done because there's no real point to having caps except to appear smarter
Look at thisispain man, he don't care about caps, he's got better stuff to do. Maybe he'll argue with you if he feels like it, maybe not. Whatevs.
I picked the neutral ground. Theistic Evolution.
