Your never too old or too young to murder somebody. I hate how people say she has no ability to comprehend what she did--but how the hell do we know whats going on in her head? -__- (I knew the definition of killing and it being bad by 6. <.<)
what if you're a newborn lol i don't think they can be criminal masterminds at this very moment
What do people have against children? Why does no one want them? I love kids. :frown:
I can't blame the 5 year old entirely on this case, but regarding the children part, I don't want any, and mainly because I was a complete dickhead myself as a young kid and I would probably want to kick someone like me.
She's fucking 5 years old, holy shit you can't expect a 5 year old to completely understand the consequences of her actions
She didn't understand the consequences but she knew that if she killed the toddler she'd never have to listen to it scream again.
She didn't understand the consequences but she knew that if she killed the toddler she'd never have to listen to it scream again.
Why "kill"? How can a 5 year old have an intent to "kill"? Seems to me like she just wanted him to stop crying, so she held him under the water to silence him without fully understanding the consequences.
He means that she obviously knew it would stop the baby crying, but a 5 year old doesn't comprehend the whole idea of "I just cut down an entire life of a person"
While she did probably understand that what she was doing was bad, I don't think she realized how bad it actually was. She should probably be put into an institution.
Wow and the dad posted about it on facebook. I think I would be too busy being upset to update fucking facebook.
I'm glad I made it past being a child without some dumbfuck murdering me.
Wow and the dad posted about it on facebook. I think I would be too busy being upset to update fucking facebook.
Unfortunately, Facebook is a "big part" of people's lives now.
Wow and the dad posted about it on facebook. I think I would be too busy being upset to update fucking facebook.
When you're having a bad time with your life, you typically want other people to sympathize with you. It's likely that he was telling relatives that his son is dead, too And I love how people in this thread think they know more than a Juvenile Officer.
"The mind of a five-year-old is not really capable of formalising intent for homicide," juvenile officer Mary Marquez said.
Also, if you think a 5 year old has the full capabilities of understanding, you must be ok with pedophilia too, since a toddler would have to understand sex if they understand killing. What is with Facepunch being filled with over-emotional little shits. I'm just as human as they next guy, but you people are dumb.
A kid can't hurt anyone if there's nothing to hurt them with. The bath shouldn't of been left filled with water in the first place. I'm not saying kids should be protected from sharp corners but really a bath tub full of water.
Kids can be cruel. They don't feel the weight of their actions.

Why would you even leave a 5 year old child and a newborn anywhere unsupervised?
had been left in the care of a 16-year-old girl who had mental disabilities
oh
:smith:
It wasn't her fault that the 5 year old was a fucking sociopath [editline]10th June 2011[/editline] But you can't blame the kid, she's fucked up, but she's only a kid.
Maybe she should be trialed as an adult.. because she knew what she was doing; drowning him because she couldn't stand his crying [editline]10th June 2011[/editline] On a serious note.. I don't know, that's pretty unusual
Wow not every kid is a genius who knows that if you do certain things it can kill people seriously guys
Maybe just a "What you did was very bad and you should never do it again." talk.
Thats some pretty hardcore depressing stuff right there.
You're either still a teenager or a very selfish person.
No, he's just a massive idiot. Lets just leave him alone.
If I don't make it rich in this life, I'm going to make damn sure that my kid will. I wish my parents put me into acting lessons etcetc when I was a kid. I got put into ice skating because my dad wanted me to go into the NHL. Unfortunately I decided to quit at a young age because my initial coach moved to Toronto and shit was never the same. I really regret quitting because I love Hockey, and I'm really good at it, other than ice skating of course.. And it really sucks to see all my friends playing in AAA hockey and some of them making it into the WHL which is a league or two before the NHL, just thinking that could be me.. it sucks. Any who, kinda off topic.. This is a really unfortunate event that didn't really need to happen, sucks they had that mentally handicapped 16 year old looking after them.
Don't worry, your still a good person. You'll probably likely be a good father, so you have nothing to worry about.
Maybe she should be trialed as an adult.. because she knew what she was doing; drowning him because she couldn't stand his crying
How does that prove that she knew the consequences of killing someone in any way?
How does that prove that she knew the consequences of killing someone in any way?
I think he's bat shit insane for saying this. It makes as much sense as expecting a job after going to a job interview blazed on booze, and peeing on the employers face.
How does that prove that she knew the consequences of killing someone in any way?
Well neither of us can't say for sure, what's done is done though. And she confessed, saying she drowned him because this and that. But obviously her testimony don't mean dick because she's 5.
she probably drowned him because she knows that will shut him up.She didn't know he would die and when the boy stopped showing any signs of life she called the 911(or whatever) because she was taught to do so if emergencies happen
well wasn't that clever of her to call 911 after the emergency she caused, but she still wasn't clever enough to realize leaving a toddler in a bathtub is not a good idea, even if just to make him shut up.
well wasn't that clever of her to call 911 after the emergency she caused, but she still wasn't clever enough to realize leaving a toddler in a bathtub is not a good idea, even if just to make him shut up.
your point?
Maybe just a "What you did was very bad and you should never do it again." talk.
Do you know what kids do when you tell them not to do something? They do it.
because it is...
No, it's actually not. The only reason why it's so horrible is because of how much you fight. In the military I heard that, you're taught that if you are stranded in the water with no craft, and no other means for rescue or survival, the best thing to do is put your head under water and take a deep breath. You will go unconscious with no pain almost immediately. When my step father was training for the Special Forces, they had everyone "drown" to show them what it felt like. My step father said it was extremely peaceful if you don't fight it and just let it go.
