The fact the prequels are still canon and the EU isn't sort of spoils anything they could possibly do with the universe. The meat and potatoes of SW was in shit like Shadows Of The Empire. The bulk of my interest in the franchise was in the arc of Boba Fett escaping from the Sarlaac and going on have a family and other such things. And that's all gone now. The books. The comics. The games. The RPGs. I can't care anymore. All that's left is the jedi-centric wankfest when the jedi were the lamest part of the property.
The prequels introduced Jango, if boba surviving the sarlaac is canon then hopefully we'll see a new fett in the new trilogy
What is with Star Wars and not understanding how queens work? Like, first you have a 'democratically elected queen of Naboo' and now it's 'queen of a Republic'. I'm thinking at least some of this is bullshit.
Better then 'General Calrissian' What did Lando do other then try to turn them over to the Empire and Rescue Han from Jabba?
Good point. I don't really get why the rebellion would've had ranks, anyway. I thought the idea was to portray them as a rag-tag group of people with some nobles behind their cause (going by the original depiction, none of that TFU shite). Guess that's discussion for something else entirely, though.
I don't really care how good it is, I just miss Kyle Katarn. [sp] As well as all the other now non-canon EU stuff[/sp] RIP sweet prince
as i understand it they'll still use EU stuff as it suits them, so if someone at Disney just takes a liking to the character then he'll be made canon again and stuff will happen with him. i mean don't get your hopes up or anything but there's doubtless going to be some stuff that they want to survive and reuse.

The Inquisitor, the Imperial Security Bureau, and Sienar Fleet Systems are story elements in the new animated series, and all these ideas find their origins in roleplaying game material published in the 1980s.

Han Solo is "High Commander of the Republic"
As much as I hate this in theory, I also don't want to see old Harrison Ford reprise his cocky smuggler persona, so some kind of army general type would be fitting for him.
They would need some sort of Chain of Command.
Pretty shitty chain of command when you just make any random asshole a general :v:
The prequels introduced Jango, if boba surviving the sarlaac is canon then hopefully we'll see a new fett in the new trilogy
Jango ruined Boba. And stormtroopers. And the concept of the clone wars.
I'd love if Kyle Katarn somehow became the main character of this trilogy. If he happens to be in it I would pre-order every bonus set as soon as it is even thought of. It would fit so perfectly. Obi-Wan being for the first three, Luke for the second, and Kyle for the third.
Jango ruined Boba. And stormtroopers. And the concept of the clone wars.
How did it ruin Storm Troopers? According to (the now discarded) EU most clones were phased out of service by the time A New Hope came around and the ranks were filled by normal humans. Any clones still serving were special forces or instructors. Also evidenced by the re-releases because George didn't have all Stormtroopers dubbed with Australian accents. :v:
Jango ruined Boba. And stormtroopers. And the concept of the clone wars.
Jango was a lot cooler than Boba. They never showed his potential in the prequels, but he could swiftly take out armed jedi.
Jango was a lot cooler than Boba. They never showed his potential in the prequels, but he could swiftly take out armed jedi.
He took out a few jedi in the Geonossian Arena
I don't get what made Boba so popular really. In the movies, he receives a chunk of carbonite, and then dies in a hole the next year.
I don't get what made Boba so popular really. In the movies, he receives a chunk of carbonite, and then dies in a hole the next year.
Because he was so mysterious, you know nothing about him other then he is Bounty Hunter. That armour was awesome.
if order of the jedi is any hint, we can assume they might be taking the jedi knight route of things. Wasn't academy all about the new jedi order?
As much as I hate this in theory, I also don't want to see old Harrison Ford reprise his cocky smuggler persona, so some kind of army general type would be fitting for him.
Yeah and to be honest most smugglers probably don't live to be his would be age, smuggling is a high risk money grab scheme that isn't sustainable.
Because he was so mysterious, you know nothing about him other then he is Bounty Hunter. That armour was awesome.
He was a mini-boss who had zero characterization and has been fetishized by fanboys for no reason.
Better then 'General Calrissian' What did Lando do other then try to turn them over to the Empire and Rescue Han from Jabba?
He blew up the second Death Star in the Millennium Falcon. He flew it into the core with a couple of X-Wings at his side.
Even if the clone trooper life span is that long I highly doubt Delta squad is alive or active 60+ years after the events of Imperial Commando 501st.
But imagine delta squad using electric wheelchairs rappelling up a building, then one of the commando's Alzheimer's kicks in and the other clones have to try and make him remember what he's doing... Episode 7 would be worth it just for that one scene
"Queen Regent of the Republic" That doesn't sound like a title a chief of state who leads a democratic government should have. Then again the Rebellion was basically a bunch of butthurt monarchs who didn't have a say in the government anymore.
Luke being an Obi-Wan style mentor is just what I wanted - I even said it in the last thread. Even if this film sucks seeing an older Luke should be great.
It is impossible for it to be any worse than the prequels, so here's hoping it can at least be on par with the originals.
He blew up the second Death Star in the Millennium Falcon. He flew it into the core with a couple of X-Wings at his side.
He was a General before that.
Jango ruined Boba. And stormtroopers. And the concept of the clone wars.
The fuck's wrong with jango?
"Queen Regent of the Republic" That doesn't sound like a title a chief of state who leads a democratic government should have. Then again the Rebellion was basically a bunch of butthurt monarchs who didn't have a say in the government anymore.
But even the Old Republic was led by a Chancellor. How does the Alliance to Restore the Republic end up with a Queen Regent? Who is she serving as regent for? Maybe they meant Queen Regnant, but even that makes little sense in the context of a Republic.
Jango ruined Boba. And stormtroopers. And the concept of the clone wars.
Not like there was much to ruin. Boba was a borderline extra.
Jango has more canonical character to him than Boba, even if it really isn't much.
Not like there was much to ruin. Boba was a borderline extra.
He literally got struck in the jetpack by a man who couldn't see, flew across the screen flailing and fell right into the Sarlacc. Badass.
