Jalalabad
I remember when Battlefield 2 announced the release of Road to Jalalabad and people were screaming that it sounded like a stereotype until someone at EA pointed out it was a real place.
I just want to know how the hell they managed to catch and tie him up in the first place, you'd think he would've just blown himself up when they tried to grab him.
Maybe he second guessed himself. I would imagine thinking a suicide bomb would be a glorious use of my life and actually putting on a vest that is going to kill me and everyone in the vicinity are two very different situations. Perhaps he wanted to get sacked by the bomb squad rather than flaking and getting whacked by whatever extremist group put him up to it.
In a country like that, I'd have kicked the shit out of him after disarming it, making sure to demean him for his poor choice of 'fighting-style'
"Cowardly bitch!"
ooh tough guy
you're a jackass
Those Afghan security guys are fucking insanely badass. Personally, my first instinct would be to shoot him in the head/upper chest, and I'd probably go with that instinct. These guys though? They captured a suicide bomber alive.
I remember when Battlefield 2 announced the release of Road to Jalalabad and people were screaming that it sounded like a stereotype until someone at EA pointed out it was a real place.
That is literally one of the best maps in BF2. I love it.
Go ahead and tell me how i'm going to defend myself against a suicide bomber? Go ahead.
you could always tie him up and defuse his bomb
Jesus Christ, your heart would be jumping out of your throat.
Well, not really. My mentor is an EOD and tells me how all of the bomb techicians are required to stay calm in any scenario. They maintain regular breathing and a steady heart rate. It is truly incredible what these guys can do and how calm they stay in these situations.
One story he told me that really stuck out in particular was when an allied aircraft was shot down and his squad was required to secure the area and recover the pilot. When he arrived at the crash site they received some small arms fire and since the ejector seat was considered live explosives, he was the one who had to recover the pilot. Underfire, he was able to successfully recover as much as the pilot as he could as well a some of the HE rounds aboard the aircraft. If he wasn't calm in this situation it might have had an entirely different outcome.
So no, that guys heart wasn't jumping out of his throat they are trained to be calm in all scenarios.
EODs are truly amazing people.

What's funny for me though is that "jalalabad" literally means "ankles" in Estonian. So whenever I played that map, I was either invading or fighting for ankles. Great morale booster.
Am I the only one who thinks this must've been really embarrassing for the bomber?
Am I the only one who is unsure about how to rate "Am I the only one" posts?
I mean if you rate agree, then you're also by extension speaking for every single other person who views the thread since you would be saying "Yes, out of all the people who have viewed this thread, you are the only person who has had or will have that particular reaction/point of view."
However, rating disagree would essentially void all the other agrees. As it is saying "No, you are not the only one. There is another." and we could further assume that it implies the person who rated disagree is the other person with the same reaction/point of view. With a single disagree establishing the poster as not being the only one, the agrees that affirm the poster of being the only one would be untrue.
So by rating disagree and letting the poster know he is not the only one, you would also spit in the face of all the other people who rated agree because they think the poster is the only one.
Other ratings aside, perhaps optimistic would be the most fitting rating for "Am I the only one" posts in the sense that it would acknowledge that there is a chance the poster is the only one yet also keep in mind how unlikely such an outcome could be.
Good idea for the suit and all, but THE HANDS... COVER THE HANDS. that's important you know

dont rate them anything because ratings are stupid

No it doesn't.
Jalalaba is the sole of your foot, not the ankle.
Good idea for the suit and all, but THE HANDS... COVER THE HANDS. that's important you know
At this range the suit won't help either. Explosions aren't just about the fireball, the blast wave fucks up all your insides and no suit can help you with that
Well, I dont think these would be too hard to disarm, they probably dont have any anti-tampering devices, considering their purpose.
Defusing a bomb with wire cutters is extremely dangerous, it's a good thing he did it correctly.
The fuck?
The man walks up to you with a suicide vest to blow you and everyone else away. He is subdued and you're calling ME a coward for beating him? He can at least cover his face and assume the fetal position.
Go ahead and tell me how i'm going to defend myself against a suicide bomber? Go ahead.
yes
Good idea for the suit and all, but THE HANDS... COVER THE HANDS. that's important you know
If the bomb went off with him being that close, it wouldn't matter, and I'd imagine gloves would increase the risk of fucking something up.
Reminds me of The Hurtlocker, except the suicide bomber here wanted to purposely kill himself while in the movie he was forced into it and couldn't be saved.
Nice spoilers. I didn't want to watch the movie anyways, thanks.
Good idea for the suit and all, but THE HANDS... COVER THE HANDS. that's important you know
I'd imagine wearing gloves would make things more difficult more than anything.

yeah, i'm sure you would have "kicked the shit out of him"
get a load of this tough guy
"What? I cut the wire that leads to the button. Duh."
That guy probably thinks it's no big deal at all.
