He spent 6 months last year in Russia. According to his youtube channel he liked to listen to a lot of imams. He once wrote, "i don't have a single American friend, I don't understand them." The younger one was popular, a wrestler, and enrolled at UMass Dartmouth. He was quiet, but nice. Both came here when they were children.

There were also reports that explosives he was carrying blew up.
