Donald Trump's team 'discussing plans for Muslim registration system'

Everything is going to be fine guys, this is just Trump pandering to his right-wing supporters again. Totally not indicative of how badly his administration is going to suck (in addition to a hundred other things).:downs:
This shouldn't even be something that's up for discussion, yet here we are. Fuck this man and everybody who sympathizes with him.

Technically, but the point is the Government was forced to pay for their wrong. Technically the government could violate all of your rights, the important thing is whether or not they get in trouble for doing so.
Can't wait for half my family to get badges indicating they're muslim

Keep in mind that it took until Reagan for the government to formally acknowledge it was wrong. It took until Bush for us to get reparations, which are far, far less then what my family lost.
When will we get specialized "towns" for the muslim population? :v:
lovely camps with yuge walls and big furnaces to keep them warm.
no not really but anyone taking a muslim registration system seriously should be run out of this country
I think falsely registering as a Muslim would be a good way to protest. Shows how pointless and ineffective it would be.
Depending on what registering entails that doesn't sound too bad lol

Blood, hair, and urine samples, embedded tracking chip, 30 days notice before you leave the state. Just normal safety stuff like that.

I mean early on when these sorts of databases start off relatively innocuous. It being flooded with fake muslims could be a quite strong protest against it

Muslims could also just refuse to register in it. That would be a strong protest too, in addition to barraging it with bullshit registrations.
I don't think Trump's racist, I think he's nationalistic.
He doesn't like Mexico as a country, he doesn't like the muslim countries.
The implications of this are very similar to racism, however, especially with the general public's reaction.
Constitution applies to US citizens, not immigrants or visitors.
If the immigrants attain citizenship then there is a legal
issue. The whole immigration system needs an overhaul regardless, my adviser has lived here 18 years and only just dtarted the process to become a US citizen. Presently she has no Constitutional rights.
"Wrong."
Actually, the constitution applies to all people within the US, even including undocumented immigrants. For example, all people within the US (aside from enemy combatants, according to some) are entitled to due process, among many other rights.
How would he justify that system? I imagine it will just be another NSA database.

It is just been explained, This is the Post-9/11 Immigration system thing all over again.
The registry would apparently be modeled after the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System, a monitoring program started after 9/11 that was dropped in 2011.
What if your a American born muslim?
Then you're not an immigrant? They'll get to those ones later.
Just gotta throw in a grandfather clause ya'know?
That'll catch the lot of them
It's getting pretty tiring having any criticism of Trump when he does something horrible shot down as " emotional liberals think Trump is Sauron!!"
It's also pretty tiring to see critisism open with "Better get started on Dachau then!"
I just want both sides to just treat this shit honestly
"Wrong."

If you're right I would like a Supreme Court ruling that supports your claim. I have never been taught that foreign nationals gain full Constitutional rights by being on US soil
there are a disturbing amount of people that openly support fascist policies like this
Reread the 14th Amendment:
If you're a person, and you're within the Jurisdiction of the United States, the constitution apply to you.
I'm not a lawyer obviously, but could a judge or lawyer not interpret person within its jurisdiction as citizens born or naturalized and therefore subject to the jurisdiction thereof and cannot be denied? It makes no clear distinction on what kind of persons be it citizen or immigrant.
