But that doesn't mean we should help them either. Since it only causes more problems in the long term. They need real sustainable help for the future. Humanatarian aid is bullshit, it makes first world people feel better and helps a few people in the third world live longer. What they need is real measurable long term aid to help build wells and farms so that they can build their own country up, tackle local problems like drug addiction, crime/bandits and lift themselves out of poverty.

I said we shouldn't spend the money on general aid and short-term shit, we should spend it on development and long term initatives. You do realise that Africa's population increases by around two million every year. This is despite all the people starving to death and dying of unvaccinated diseases. These are the facts: The population in Africa is realistically too large for it's infrastructure to sustain without famine. They rely on food given freely. Why the hell should we make them even more dependant on us by helping the population to increase? All we are doing is shitting on any chance they have of a future. First world countries constantly take advantage of this by offering aid 'unconditionally' in return for being able to scam the shit out of third world workers and raid that countries natural resources without offering a fair deal. It's slavery and abhorrent. I respect Bill Gates immensely for being so incredibly generous and humane. But I don't think this money should be spent on vaccines. These people need a future worth looking forward too. Not one with even bigger problems. Why do you think parts of South Africa have such a huge problem with drug addiction, people have nothing to look forward too. They see no way to improve their situation in life. This money would be better spent on building wells and building underground reservoirs. Buying farm implements and seeds, paying for teachers and educational materials. Giving people the means to raise themselves out of poverty through their own hard work. It's no use just prolonging a life. Look at the analogy of giving life pro-longing drugs to someone dying of a terminal illness. All it does is give them longer to live, this is no comfort. You have to give them hope of a chance that they'll still recover. Hope is a more potent drug than a million vaccinations. To quote the bible(I know this is going to backfire on me somehow.) "Man cannot live on bread alone." They need change.

To the people saying that this is bad because of over population, it's not, if anything, it's the opposite. The reason they have so many children in the first place is because kids have a nasty habit of dying in terrible conditions. They want to have enough children so that they can support the parents when they get old. If you give them vaccines, it will prevent things like infant deaths from disease, and, in turn, families will not need to have as many kids to sustain them through their later life.
