My friend who is a marine in Okinawa hasn't been able to contact me for a while, last thing he said was he was now going into OPSEC mode. I wonder what they're up to. Odd question, but does anyone have any idea how big North Korea's nuclear weapons are?
Hmmnnmmph

I am absolutely insulted that the Glorious Leader has to put up with imbeciles like you.
Shit, I have a few friends in the Marines. I really hope shit doesn't go down and I also don't want to go to sleep and wake up to see that my country has declared war.

Only reason I'm still up. I very well could be staring The Second Korean Conflict or, hopefully not, World War III in the face. I don't want to miss a beat.
They'll be war hardened when they come back. :black101:
Well, I figure they would just end up like this after a few decades. "Get off my lawn."
Physical size of nuclear weapons doesn't matter, it's the yield that counts It's all based on a 100 ton tnt test they did in which they blew up 100 tons of tnt to compare to nuclear weapons. A kiloton is 1000 tonnes of tnt. The hiroshima bomb was 15 kilotons. Nagasaki, 20. Since then though, they advanced into the megatons (1000 kilotons) which can wipe out cities far bigger than nagasaki or hiroshima. As for NK's weapons. Their test last year was thought to be around 20KTs. But that's about all that is known atm.
Nothing is going to happen, just like last time (and probably the time before that)
Nothing is going to happen, just like last time (and probably the time before that)
While I agree that nothing may be the possible outcome, it's also not comparable to before, what has happened in the last few days has brought the Koreas more close to war than any other previous event...

How about when North Korean commandos stormed the South Korean capital building, killing several politicians and attempting to assassinate the South Korean president? That was a lot more significant.
Link to that, please.
What? How about when North Korean commandos stormed the South Korean capital building, killing several politicians and attempting to assassinate the South Korean president? That was a lot more significant.
Uhhh, I don't think that ever happened.
Uhhh, I don't think that ever happened.
It did. Look up "The Blue House Raid" or something to that effect.
What's up guys, staying up for the show. I still don't think North Korea is going to act on this.
I'm more interested in what China's got to say. Still waiting on their official word.
I'm more interested in what China's got to say. Still waiting on their official word.
There won't be any. They're just defusing the situation. Now everyone will wait for them to speak a word, and by the time drills will end. Problem solved.
South Korea had an accidental discharge of one of it's artillery pieces and the round landed on the Southern side. Oh. Lucky one. What would have happened if the shell landed on the OTHER side.
Another 'close call'; When North Koreans boarded an American intelligence vessel operating legally in international waters, killed a crew member, captured 80 some more, and took them prisoner. They still hold the vessel, the 'USS Pueblo', to this day. This was only three days after the assassination attempts.
Link to that, please.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_House_Raid#The_Blue_House_Raid It seems my memory of it was off by a bit. It wasn't the capital building, nor were politicians killed (not sure where I heard that). However, the president was nearly assassinated, many South Koreans were killed (including two dozen civilians), and so were several Americans.
Fuck, it is starting to get really close to where exactly where we are going with this.
Hahaha... reading this felt like a cheesy action movie.
Obviously they didn't convince those civilians well enough.

Well in a situation like this, it isn't wise for China to jump straight to nukes. However, since they've said that they wanted PEACE, hopefully this means they'll come up with a treaty that says, "Hey, guys, no matter what happens - don't use nukes. I don't care what goes down, just don't use nukes. Got it? Cool."
