Yeah, if america were to invade them, most of the population would fight against the U.S. To them North Korea is great, and they are not starving.
derp
because the north is set up as an elaborate trap against the south. the south would likely suffer heavy losses due to the fact that the DPRK's strategy is the same as the soviet union's, overwhelm them regardless of who dies. it would unfold into a war of attrition which would eventually just end in another armistice.
Additionally, there would be no more Seoul.
So, I just got up. What's the news? Anything interesting happen over the past 7 hours?
they said after chonin that they wouldnt back north korea up when the cease-fire is over. China's economy relies too much on the US to go to war with us.
Not exactly, China stated they would not support the attacker who sank the Cheonan warship.

Propaganda is a sad thing. :(
Why do people think that invading NK is a walk in the park?

I read 3 dead and 16 wounded, including 2 civilians.

Won't happen in days, you know... Then it MIGHT BE too late. Hope it won't happen. I like SK, like them cars...
Why doesn't the south just invade the north? North Korea has absolutely no supporters and probably has a shit military in terms of strategy and equipment. No doubt the soldiers have been heavily indoctrinated, but if South Korea sent an Armoured spearhead through the DMZ they could probably crush the North in a matter of weeks/months. They might even recieve a great deal of support from liberated towns.
Dunno if that has been mentioned before, but for all those people considering an all-out invasion of NK, think back to Iraq. The insurgency afterwards was the real fight, and with an army and population like North Korea's, once you're sitting in Pyongyang be prepared to deal with the beyond zealous insurgents.
Right a rogue country with no notable allegiances with any strong countries is going to cause WW3

Yeah, for NK
An intellectual post?
I'm so proud.

The North are known to have tested nukes and may have one or perhaps more active bombs ready for use.

Seoul, the South's capital is only 25 miles from the border - a feasible target for North Korean bombers, missiles and, if things take a turn for the worst, artillery or even occupation.

Over 10 million people live in Seoul and the vast majority of South Korean citizens live in the north of the country, so civilian casualties could be severe.
Next thing you know NK will surprise us with something up to date...and very lethal. Probably a very highly explosive missile, and not just your ordinary MOAB, but like a MOAB times 5. And too much of them.
I'll probably get bricked for this, but I live a few miles from the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (presidential 'safety bunker' located here) - all day its been jets and jets, no sonic booms like on 9/11 but there's a lot of traffic. shit ton of c130's (or whatever the big cargo planes are) in and out too.
Like Smurfy said, South invading North would be a bad idea. North has a huge military number and even if they are shit, they could easily hold back the South for enough time to unleash some of those nukes if they are on standby.

Nope, their weaponry is outdated. The last known source of the technologies was USSR, and I don't think that China is that interested in full-scale combat near their borders, so... It's outdated. But still. Lots and lots of outdated weaponry.

Thy think of it as a country with poorly quipd soldir, with outdatd hardwar. Surly, thir shit isn't top notch, but thy can still kill a shittlod of SK soldirs.
My lttr nxt to th "W" isn't working, if you havn't noticd.
Lat again
If American invades them it would be like Vietnam all over again, except they would have better guns.
War isn't going to happen in 12 hours. People need to be hoping it doesn't happen at all. If there is a war then the U.S needs to STAY, THE, FUCK, OUT. We don't need to stuff our military dicks in everyone's mouth.
This is their fight and their concerns are not of ours. We cannot afford to be fighting two wars at the same time. Hoping Obama has some more sense. Bush would have had us deployed on the hour.

You want to know the real reason? China. China has been backing North Korea for the past fifty years, and even the US doesn't want a war with them.
I'm concerned that US is already tied up by the military pacts with SK, and that NATO thing, you know...

We can't "stay the fuck out" we're allies, and we've had troops stationed there since the 1950's for a reason.
And the US military is built around the idea that it CAN fight two wars at any given time.

We've been supporting them for years and pretty much promised them we have their back if they go to war with the north
Sticking out would be a dick move to the south, even if it is a good financial idea.

Not only to the south. But to the whole idea of international pacts and communities.
This shit is real scary. Living in constant fear of being bombed if the US is involved. Thats a horrible thought you have to fear every single day.

I realize that but that doesn't make it a good plan. Our war is rough as it is overseas now. We don't need to go into the fray every time. I do wish the South well but sometimes we have to swallow that war mentality.
I guess we ARE obliged and in a bind. We really cannot afford to be in two wars as it is. Oh well. Best of luck to S.Korea citizens now and to any of our Korean Facepunchers.

That would just be a betrayal to the South.

They've been swallowing it the whole time...
