Not surprising you'd say that, since you're against using the death penalty entirely- even for cases like Bundy and Fish, according to our previous conversations on the matter.
Again, he shoots this guy twice after forcing him to perform oral sex at gunpoint and unsuccessfully tried to sodomize him (how one could be unsuccessful at that... I know not). What's ridiculous is that he'll be out of prison in a few years and will probably do it again. Assault and sodomy charges are WAY too lenient. There is no excuse for what he did to the victim. God only knows how much mental damage it's done to him, never mind physical.

Well considering he's going to have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life on top of the prison term I think the punishment fits the crime. You can't fucking kill someone out of revenge or you're worse than the person you're killing.

How's that? There are so many sex offenders on the registry that's it's near impossible for law enforcement to track them all effectively and actually force them to comply with whatever specific court-ordered restrictions they've had imposed on them. That part aside, how could what he did constitute anything less than attempted murder? He shot this man twice intentionally after raping him orally and attempting to sodomize him (I still don't understand how he was "unsuccessful").

How would it constitute revenge in this case moreso than a safety precaution for the general interests of society? He's probably going to do it again when he gets out. Sex offenders have a bad trend of winding up as repeat offenders. And if he brings a gun along with him the next time, the next victim may not be so lucky as this one was. There is absolutely no excuse for this nonsense.

Nope, not by a long shot are they perfect. Neither are the laws- particular as far as drugs are concerned. But reform towards nothing but rehabilitation is not going to work like a magical wand that will solve all of the United States' violent criminal problems overnight and transform us into a safe utopia.
