So committing a crime is ok?
I'm surprised it wasn't before to be honest.
Dude. Thats like saying you find some squatter in your house and going "meh, dinner is at 5"
how is that even
So committing a crime is ok?
If we made it trivial to immigrate, it wouldn't even be a crime, so yes, it is perfectly ok.
If we made it trivial to immigrate, it wouldn't even be a crime, so yes, it is perfectly ok.
its not trivial to immigrate. Get a visa, take the test in a few years. I have all the respect in the world to the people who do it the right way. But I have no respect for people who do it the easy way.

It should be trivial. There is no reason for it to be difficult to immigrate. Respect doesn't even fucking enter into it, natural-born citizens did fuck all to immigrate.
I can see you've never dealt with businesses before
what a vague, meaningless and overall shitty post
did you expect him to read that and say "oh WOW, now i get it! i HAVENT dealt with business before, you're right!"
ok guys you don't seem to understand how many illegal immigrants are here right now
11.2 million illegal immigrants
The US has a population of 311,591,917
so like 11/311 people are illegal immigrants
you can't just go "fuck you" to that many people, and you can't just pretend those people won't be driving if they are denied licences
you can't ignore these numbers of people
its not trivial to immigrate. Get a visa, take the test in a few years. I have all the respect in the world to the people who do it the right way. But I have no respect for people who do it the easy way.
okay two things:
first of all, getting a Visa is fucking difficult. i know, i'm a legal immigrant myself. there are a lot of hoops to jump through, there's a lot of money to spend, and even then it's not likely.
second of all, EASY WAY???, most illegal immigrants put themselves in incredibly dangerous situations to immigrate to the united states. it's not easy at all.
Read before you post.
Illegal immigrants aren't bad. Making immigration trivial would just make the situation better, but illegal immigrants simply aren't a serious problem.
I never said they were a serious problem, I just was saying that they shouldn't benefit off of the system if they aren't part of it.
If they're born in the US then they are citizens.
I can't even believe that you're arguing that denying citizens drivers licenses because of their parents is a good thing.
I'm not talking about the children
I never said they were a serious problem, I just was saying that they shouldn't benefit off of the system if they aren't part of it.
if they pay taxes and have licenses, we're benefiting from it, not them.
our economy already benefits hugely from the cheap unorganized labour they provide. illegal immigrants are doing the American people a favour.
I'm not talking about the children
Yeah I realized that shortly after so I threw in a "wait no never mind" at the end.
I never said they were a serious problem, I just was saying that they shouldn't benefit off of the system if they aren't part of it.
I suspect virtually all of them would become a part of the system if it wasn't so ridiculously difficult, taking years or decades if it's even possible for you. After all, once part of the system they end up receiving more benefits. The "benefits" they get now are almost nothing - after all, they pay taxes but get no tax returns.

How can illegal immigrants pay taxes if they aren't citizens

how is a drivers license a "benefit of the system" to them more than it is to everyone else in society?
i didn't get my drivers license because the sheer power of that plastic card makes me happy, i HAD to get it so that everyone else in the country knows i at least have a basic understanding of how to operate my volkswagon in a way that ensures a minimal amount of vehicular manslaughter
How can illegal immigrants pay taxes if they aren't citizens
Many provide fake tax IDs to businesses, the businesses pay forward their income, medicare, and social security tax. They'll be paying local taxes such as property, utility and sales taxes as well.
How can illegal immigrants pay taxes if they aren't citizens
mostly just sales tax
How can illegal immigrants pay taxes if they aren't citizens
do you live in California? California charges a tax for everything. you can't buy anything without paying a tax somewhere along the line, and of course there's property taxes as well.

not to mention it also serves as identification which is useful in many cases
Is that sign a joke?
What's written on that sign is nothing short of threatening terrorism. You're going to shoot more policemen until you get what you're demanding?
They're making fun of illegals supposedly wanting everything, you nitwit.
They're making fun of illegals supposedly wanting everything, you nitwit.
Yes, that's somehow obvious from the picture?
You don't have to be so condescending just to make a point.
[editline]5th September 2012[/editline]
Enough of the picture derailing too. It's clearly different than that of the article.
nothing, there's definitely an issue with desperately trying to fly in the face of the DREAM act and prevent kids born in the united states to illegal parents from living a normal life due to circumstances out of their control though
If they're born in the US of illegal parents, then they are legal. It's expressly said so in the Constitution.
If they're born in the US of illegal parents, then they are legal. It's expressly said so in the Constitution.
im glad you're a supporter of the DREAM act and against the bill in the OP then
I'd rather have a way for illegal immigrants to get a driver's license than them not being able to have them at all. The whole process to get one makes sure that they're at least partially competent drivers.
If he's born in America then doesn't he get citizenship right as he comes out of the womb?
Yeah should be ius soli.
You can't be fucking serious :tinfoil:
You'd be surprised.
You'd be surprised.
you would be surprised if you were completely unaware of context and the fact that it's obviously an anti-immigration douche with a "satirical" sign that is supposed to portray a violent and entitled illegal immigrant
Block licenses in California, shoot police in Arizona?
Awe man now I look like a moron who just stumbled into the thread without that picture.
it's a draft for federal legislation
I approve. Not to sound like a douche in any way I'm actually quite curious. Why don't immigrants just naturalize? Is it expensive to naturalize? I honestly don't know I just thought mexicans were lazy.
Hey, that's my representative!
I feel somewhat acknowledged.
So what's the problem with stopping illegal immigrants from getting the benefits of the system
A driver's license is not a benefit.
A license means that driver has taken tests that prove they are proficient at handling a car(or other vehicle) AND know the rules of the road. This is good, you should want all people driving to be qualified.
Telling someone to not bother with the license means you will have drivers who haven't been tested, who haven't learned the rules of the road, and who may know very little about how to drive on our streets and freeways.
So unless you are one of those people who believes unlicensed drivers will think "Oh well, I was going to drive but since I don't have a license I won't", this is not a good thing. Here in Southern California, driving is kind of important. Important enough that licensed or not, insured or not, people WILL drive.
