Goddamn.
I'm not saying it's empowering. I'm saying that, again, that just because miniskirts and pigtails doesn't a ultra hyper giga misogynistic sexist oppressing women movie make.
So you agree with her then, but you don't want to admit it's misogynistic or sexist?
She's not alone on this. There's even a large portion of the movie's wiki page devoted to its misogyny. You're just acting like a giant manbaby by whining about whatever made-up quotes you've written about her. She has every right to be critical of the portrayal of her sex in the movie. If you cared at all about the negative portrayals of women in cinema you'd stop all this whining about people who are actually not happy about how women are constantly sexualised yet stuck under the label of "empowerment".
The movie is just one big degrading, overly sexualised man-fantasy. And even if you looked past that it's a giant mess of a movie anyway.
I heard that the good bits in the trailer aren't even in the film!
Did you seriously link anita sarkeesan as a counter argument?
Even if she was a credible source, that video itself is so insanely retarded it's mind boggling.
it's a shit movie, but I linked it to trolololol.

She says it's ultra sexist no matter what redeeming qualities it had.
I am saying that it's not really either. It's not empowering, but it's not ultra sexist.
[sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub]Just like I said ten thousand fucking times before[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]
And i'm not contesting the movie quality either. It was pretty mediocre.
FP has horrible movie taste. I wouldn't be surprised if there's people here who liked Suckerpunch or something
Wait. We don't like Suckerpunch?
I really feel like the anti FP'er sometimes :(

She said it was misogynistic. How is it not? The whole film is disguised as some empowering female flick yet it relies on sexual violence and the sexualisation of the women who are meant to be "empowering" in order to appeal to men. It's objectification. It's degrading women in order to promote some violent sexual fantasy that men will eat up
I wasn't optimistic by seeing the trailers, but once I had heard the same Director that screwed up Max Payne was helming this, I pretty much knew it would suck.
After all, John Moore is the same guy who managed to turn an action-packed pastiche of John Woo's HK action movies and old-school Film Noir into a decidedly actionless action-movie that managed to be more cliche than the deliberately cliche video game it was being adapted from. His directing track record before this and Max Payne wasn't exactly great either.
there's not a single critic review on metacritic that's given it mixed or negative
that's an impressive feat, and you can't just say every single one of those was a "business move"
I think the fact that NOBODY even dared give a mixed review (despite being good reasons to do so) actually contributes to that argument.
Even pretty much every other 90+ game has at least one mixed review.
To me, Mass Effect 3 not having any just makes it more suspicious.
I don't like Rotten Tomatoes, I just read Roger Ebert's reviews since they don't come off as pretentious and most of the time his reviews are spot on. But it's a shame because he gave this movie a one and a half out of 4, I was looking forward to it since I love Die Hard.
the whole father/son thing was a bad idea from the start. Even including his daughter in 4.0 was a bad idea.
Movie critiques always seem to rate things according to artistic measure. Frankly there's not much middleground with "professional" critics. Artistic merit is important but considering that movies are a medium of entertainment it really should factor into the rating more.
I'd trust an 82% user rating over an 18% critic rating any day.

enjoy seeing every single modern movie released
I didn't know there was a new Die Hard movie before this thread.

christ why did you bring her into this thread
now it's ruined
Wow it's almost like people have opinions and different tastes on things.
except this isn't just one person's opinion
this is several. almost every one
you'd have to produce a massive turd of a movie if only 13% of critics like it
and yet it's like the best movie ever

If your irrational hate doesn't allow you to accept her arguments you can find the exact same ones being made by more or less everyone that isn't blind or wasn't involved with the film directly.
I'm not even a feminist. The movie was just so overtly misogynistic that it's shocking anyone can be in denial about it.

never heard of that movie

Why don't you like rotten tomatoes? It's literally just an aggregator of reviews, there's nothing to hate.

wait what
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYGiKDpjwfE
The movie was a pile of crap, sure, but i'd link something better than that.
If you have friends, you should get movie reviews from them. I mean they probably share the same tastes as you, so you'd probably like a movie if they did.
I guess for John Moore this was -
"A Good Day To Cry Hard"

Movies are much more than a medium of entertainment.

The movie wasn't superb, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the reviews make it out to be and the whole sheep mentality with it doing bad in box office seems to have dragged the reviews down a shit ton, because you know if it's bad you're "supposed" to hate it.
dammit guys stop using rotten tomatoes for getting opinions on films its an awful site
use IMDb it is a million times better, way more accurate. rt is just "I like this" or "I didn't like this" imdb is actually how much you liked or didn't like it. I mean I could rate a film 6 up to 10 on imdb and it'd be a fresh rating, and 5 and.below rotten. there's no middlegound at all it sucks
I liked this movie.
Perhaps it was a good day for the series to Die Hard and rest in peace.
i haven't seen die hard 4 and its been a while since i saw 3 and dont remember much of it
i hope this isnt as generic as people are saying. what made die hard great is the fact that it wasnt a generic shoot em up made for the dumb "huh huh explosions stimulate my tiny brain" masses
so if i go in and get basically a michael bay movie i will be disappointed. i wish bruce would do more actual good roles, like looper and such. and not "hey look im Bruce Willis" roles. Those novelty gigs are really reserved for washed up action or sci fi heroes that never really had talent in the first place. Bruce is a different class of actor, separated from the rest of the action heroes from his time.

Well, it depends. I was about ready to start a lynch mob after watching the colossal fuck-up that was Eragon.
