Not at all, i legitimately didn't see it.
Okay, just making sure. I don't like coming across as an asshole when I'm not trying to be one.
The article makes it seem like his being outside city limits makes him obligated to pay 75$, which I kinda understand. [editline]11:02PM[/editline]
Yes. Yes I would.
oh then by all means go ahead
Votes were held, people in the area agreed that this was best for them
where are you getting this from
Bluesummers is clearly a troll, and you all fell for it.
i don't care what he started its what he said that pissed me off
That is a matter of opinion. I personally don't mind paying taxes for some things like this, to a local government, but the voters in that place obviously didn't. That is democracy. You like it or you don't.
Thank you for informing me of the obvious.
Woah, who resurrected Marcus Licinius Crassus?
I don't know what I would do without you.
Also, if you are moving fast enough, you can get through flames unharmed. Or if you have water. Or a friggin' fire extinguisher. Or a bucket of fucking sand.
Woah, who resurrected Marcus Licinius Crassus?
what the i admit i had to look that up
Oh yeah, also Tetra, I am a Die Hard animal lover. (I am so sorry I just said that)
Don't play the name game here. Votes were held, people in the area agreed that this was best for them, they could have changed that opinion at any time but they didn't, they chose this for better or for worse. If they still think it's a bad plan they can cancel it at any time I'm sure. That is the beauty of laws on the local level, they are much easier to influence. I suppose your point was that we are a Republic, however that isn't relevant here because having your house put out by a fire fighter isn't in the constitution anywhere.
Do you know what a republic is because it has nothing to do with the existence of a constitution
Also, if you are moving fast enough, you can get through flames unharmed.
lol not really
How is this their fault? Why are they required to put out the fire? If you do not pay your bills and lose your electricity is it the electric company's fault? No, it is yours for not paying. Things are not free and you are NOT entitled for them. YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO THINGS YOU DONT PAY FOR.
The problem with not putting out somebody's house is that it can easily spread to their neighbors' houses. Even if they can't pay, the people around them that did would appreciate not having their house burned down. That's pretty much why we even have a public firefighters. I'm kind of with you in that if somebody doesn't pay for something they aren't entitled to service, but in reality fires spread.
lol not really
By fast I mean really fast, like speed of light fast, or oh shit I am on fucking fire fast. (That is pretty damned fast mind you)
what the i admit i had to look that up
Thank you History of Western Civilization for giving me obscure facts about minor historical figures I can reference on internet message boards
Also, if you are moving fast enough, you can get through flames unharmed. Or if you have water. Or a friggin' fire extinguisher. Or a bucket of fucking sand.
the fuck you don't know what you're talking about, life isn't a video game, even if that was true it would take immense skill and luck, and if he fails he fucking burns to death though I'd imagine THEN the firefighters would NEED to help
Canrick should have jumped on the fire truck and started spraying his house GTA style.
Wouldn't it be smart to add on more money onto his $75 debt? Fuck they are awful.
I don't really give a shit that they charge for it, but I'm more pissed off that even though HE OFFERED THEM MONEY ON THE SPOT, they still didn't put it out. Its as if they were spiting him for not paying in the first place. I mean shit, if they were really that hellbent on making $75 they could have taken him to court if he didn't pay up afterwards.
though I'd imagine THEN the firefighters would NEED to help
See? That's the point! They'll save a human life, so, tell em there are some orphans and a couple nuns in the basement, they'll put out that fire on the double. Of course there will be some legal hassle.....
In every sane place it is.
Thank you for your subjective opinion. I don't know what I'd do without you.
Do you know what a republic is because it has nothing to do with the existence of a constitution
Constitutional Republic*, fixing it, i understand that a Republic is a representative democracy, or at least that is how it is described in our country. If you know better please enlighten me.
where are you getting this from
I'd have assumed that they had a proposition and it was voted on, if not then they elected a leader which chose this for him. It is still quite easy to get it reversed if they wanted it to be.
Anyway, I think there is more to this than it would seem. I cannot believe that anyone is this heartless. (Well yes I can but not an entire firestation)
Jesus. Wait why couldn't he just get the pets out while it was creeping towards the house? Smoke?
Jesus. Wait why couldn't he just get the pets out while it was creeping towered the house? Smoke?
Yes! Finally! That is exactly what I was saying, creeping isn't exactly what a blazing fire does. And really, to save the pets all you really would have had to do was open a door. Most animals are smart enough to run from fire.
Anyway, I think there is more to this than it would seem. I cannot believe that anyone is this heartless. (Well yes I can but not an entire firestation)
There is, by the way. Turns out they didn't privatize the fire department at all. Thanks to google more info is here
Here’s an interesting question about the proper scope of government arising from Obion County, Tennessee. The county does not have its own fire department, and instead relies on the fire protection services of the nearby City of Fulton. But there’s a catch: The City of Fulton does not automatically serve residents of the county. If Obion County residents want to be protected by the City of Fulton Fire Department, they need to pay a $75 fee to the City. Obion County resident Gene Cranick decided not to pay the $75 fee, and then he set a fire in his backyard in two large barrels. The fire began to spread, and he called 911. The 911 operator told him that because he hadn’t paid the fee, the fire department would not respond. Cranick’s wife told the 911 operator that she would be willing to pay “whatever the cost” to hire the Fire Department to put out the fire, but was told that this was not an option. The Fire Department did not come out until the fire spread to a neighbor’s yard — the neighbor had paid the fee — and the firemen put out the neighbor’s fire but not Cranick’s. According to press reports, the community is outraged that the Fire Department didn’t respond to Cranick’s call ... Over at The Corner, Daniel Foster finds it objectionable that the Fire Department didn’t agree to individually contract with the Cranicks to provide the service when Mrs. Cranick said over the phone that they would pay for the service “whatever the cost.” But I don’t know how the city is supposed to contract individually with the Cranicks while their house is burning down
Like i said they are still dicks but this isn't a "privatized" fire department by any means. Nice spin, Faux Post.
Yes! Finally! That is exactly what I was saying, creeping isn't exactly what a blazing fire does. And really, to save the pets all you really would have had to do was open a door. Wait, you are telling me, that this asshole, started the fire? AND THEN LET HIS PETS DIE?! :argh:
Wait what in actual FUCK they saved the neighbor's but not his? Those fuckers.
Wait, you are telling me, that this asshole, started the fire? AND THEN LET HIS PETS DIE?! :argh:
for some reason I doubt he expected that to happen
It spread accidentally it seems.
