You are saying, that he was expecting the firefighters to come over to his house... to put out a fire in a barrel?

I'm saying he didn't expect the barrels to set fire to other things and kill his pets :downs:
Whatever, still, I have no sympathy for this... man WHATSOEVER. God...
What a stupid fire department.

Was an accident, he doesn't deserve his pets to be killed and house to be burned down for it
Yeah because noone sets barrels on fire for whatever reasons :downs:

I can say with a clear conscience that i have never set a fire in a barrel before.
What does this accomplish exactly? Sorry if I'm being naive i just can't think of a good reason besides the typical keeping homeless people warm in a cliche movie scene.

You've probably also never shot a deer for food but that doesn't mean it never happens and stuff

I've never shot a deer (though i have hunted) but if you are insinuating that you would cook it in that fashion, you could just cut it up and use a grill... designed for cooking meat.. maybe it's just me, i don't know, i said earlier i don't get it and i still don't get it.

hunting deer is really different from lighting a barrel on fire near your house
Well I haven't done it but for barbeques, making ash, charcoal, burning things etc.

I'm just saying that just because you haven't done something doesn't mean it's weird, different cultures after all
uh, source?

Garbage burning, in an area where sanitation costs are high due to rurality, my aunt burns cardboard and most non-toxic waste that can't be composted. While I can keep it from spreading, it's obvious something went wrong here, whether a gust of wind or otherwise. Most people would never think of purposely setting their house on fire guys.
Jesus.
Wait why couldn't he just get the pets out while it was creeping towards the house?
Smoke?
There were firemen there.
I'm pretty sure noone in this thread would run into their house while there were firemen there if there was fire spreading towards it.
Wow, that just tops a dick move. I mean, seriously...
uh, source?
The site i found it on cited that as it's source. This was cited as a source from many other places however, i can find more
Imagine how this would be with cops.
"Hey Johnson, that man over there is being stabbed to death!"
"Nah, he didn't pay his $75 police fee, just let it work itself out."

No where on any of their sources(which isn't Huffington Post btw) does it say the man lit his own house on fire by firing up the barrels, I they just included it there out of their own asses.
As well, this isn't a news site, it's an opinion blog of libertarian or conservatives.
In fact, they said it themselves the site is a group blog...

That's basically 'pay the price or we turn to murderers'
They probably would have got in trouble if they had.
A firefighter, ambulance driver, paramedic or policeman should have the responsiblity to serve, protect or help anyone, even if they aren't paying their dues.
But doesn't it now cost them MORE than $75 because a HOUSE burned down?
the home was gone.
So were three dogs and a cat.
They let a house burn down and four lives be taken, all for $75.
What has our world come to.
Grrrrr! This makes me hot headed!

don't worry
when people start getting executed for walking without a permit then this whole animal thing will sound alot better!

oh no how will the world ever turn without 4 animals
oh no how will the world ever turn without 4 animals
How would the world turn if firefighters didn't put out houses because people didn't pay $75...
It wouldn't turn as fast.

It would be on fire instead
Why isn't the fire service state wide instead of city wide? The idea that someone has to pay for something as basic as a fire truck to put out a fire is stupid as hell. These fire fighters should be fired, if not jailed.
It can't be safe for the surrounding houses. This can probably cause air quality issues, and possibly more fires if they don't contain it well enough.
So other people who paid up are still getting fucked over and put in danger
