A Emulator being released doesn't feel like it hold the weight like an article about world events or a company doing something good or stupid.
This is Facepunch. We like emulators. It's important to us. This is Facepunch news. Therefore, it is newsworthy.

fuck off will you
ty based crap
Still annoyed that I haven't figured out a way to play my Gamecube or Wii discs via Dolphin, since computers don't support their format.. aggghhh
last time I played brawl online it was extremely laggy. People were stuttering from one part of the stage to the other.

rogue squadron still runs like shit :(

AFAIK you make a image file of the gane disk with a program, and then you load that file with Dolphin.
Do you know what an emulator does? Why would you need a Wii or Gamecube plugged in that literally defeats the entire point of the emulator.
Doesn't that create massive legal issues? Not that any of them are sensible objections.
Doesn't that create massive legal issues? Not that any of them are sensible objections.
Nope. Emulators are perfectly legal provided you rip the games from discs yourself, otherwise that's just plain and simple piracy.

Not if you provide your own games/BIOS.
Stop strawmanning, if this was Xbox/Playstation/Vita emulator it still wouldn't be news worthy.
Nintendo or non-nintendo, I don't think a new emulator hitting the internet is news worthy.
you don't decide what is news worthy
Isn't there a legal issue if the emulator comes with the bios? I know with PCSX2 doesn't come with the ps2 bios, you have to go about finding it on your own.
almost every emulator requires you find your own bios
Isn't there a legal issue if the emulator comes with the bios? I know with PCSX2 doesn't come with the ps2 bios, you have to go about finding it on your own.
IIRC it's not strictly illegal, PCSX2 does it just for an extra sense of security, plus the devs of PCSX2 hate piracy with a passion. I mean, I guess clearly it must be legal considering Dolphin doesn't come with one and it doesn't have legal issues.
Holy crap, I can actually emulate my F-Zero GX at full speed now!
Now I can finally put away my gamecube seeing as thats the only game I play on it
Huh, Burnout's music doesn't cut off anymore. But Burnout 2's music never starts. Well that's fine with me.

Either they make you get it or they emulate or reverse engineer the bios themselves, in which case iirc it'd be legal to distribute
I can confirm this works, just played a match of Brawl online

The MKWii network is shit. I started like 3 races with 8 players and by the end of the first lap we were down to 3 because of disconnect.
This is great, but I'd really like them to focus more on dolphin for android. The fact that it crashes on launch on Tegra 3 devices makes it unusable for me.
Don't expect Dolphin to EVER work on Tegra 3 devices. They simply aren't powerful enough to emulate Gamecube hardware AT ALL.
MAYBE on Tegra 4.
Also, I tested Star Fox: Assault and it ran like it had a broken toe(as in there were minor bugs that didn't effect gameplay, but were definitely noticeable), and Dolphin 3.5 didn't. Guess it's either my settings, or just my computer is getting too old, but I'm sticking with Dolphin 3.5 for now.
This is very cool, nice to see the Wii emulation scene get some more love.
I just wish someone could perfect 64 emulation.

Twin Snakes actually works now.
So what? Do I put a gamecube game in my CD tray and use this or something?
now if only I had a working tray and could find my super mario case

Don't even bother following it if you've got a Tegra 3 device. It's made for OpenGL ES 3 phones/devices or newer. Meaning HTC One, S4, Nexus 7 2013, et cetera.

No, you need to use a console for it or an odd disk drive that can read them(they are not common), the gamecube disks are encoded in a unique manner compared to standard disks.

Certain drives can read them as far as I know. They usually aren't cheap, though.

Yeah I edited that in, I forgot about that part until I had posted.

According to the main dev, the S4's CPU & GPU are powerful enough to play some GCN games at full speed (note: with frameskips it's entirely possible to play games at 50% speed without noticing a difference). That makes it a good baseline, as the Snapdragon 800, Tegra 4, etc. have even better performance.
So the hardware is theoretically capable, it's just a matter of making a proper dynarec and all around optimizing Dolphin for Android.
It'd be big news if those even existed.
It'd be big news if even a functional xbox 1 one existed

I still follow the development of these.
Apparently it's because the Xbox's hardware is so badly documented, the Nvidia GPU and APU being prime examples of hardware that will take years to figure out
