a wii is like 150 bucks
A lot less actually. Gamestop sells pre-owned wiis for like, $60 - $70 Also, on topic Pikmin 2 runs so well on this thing.
It's just a shame trying to rip Wii games is a pain in the ass. Got a decent stack of games I'd much rather play on my PC at a decent resolution
What are some good Wii games that work fine with KB+M or a 360 controller? Basically games without waggle
Rhythm Heaven Fever needs two buttons and a d-pad for menus Super Smash Bros Brawl can be played with only a GC controller on a real Wii, so a 360 controller can do it.
Yeah but then you also get to play PC games and other emulators.
watch porn while you play super mario brothers on the SAME FUCKING SCREEN man, that's like, double whammy! Bang for your buck!
BUT can it run rogue squadron 2???
If I have a 32 bit processor, will I be able to run this?
You can download it in x64 and x86 flavors so my assumption is yes.
Neat. I wonder if it still BSODs my PC if I plug the usb-cable into my PS3-controller while playing. I can play just fine wirelessly through bluetooth, but if the battery is about to run about and I plug the cable in to load the battery it BSODs instantly. Nothing else does this.
I fucking hate that I have to config Dolphin for every game. Hopefully they made the core emulator better.
I would suggest reading the Wiki if you have any problems with games. There is almost always a solution. In the case of Wind Waker, set the audio to DSP LLE instead of HLE to fix the crackling according to the wiki. https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=The_Legend_of_Zelda%3A_The_Wind_Waker
Moreover, for Wind Waker, you should actually NEVER use DSP HLE and/or the 'Item Hang' fix. Those two will probably make your game-state corrupted and will result in black screens before an/or after cinematics.
Dolphin is a really great emulator. Cool to see they're still supporting it. I need to play through Skyward Sword again, but this time on Dolphin. The visuals were crippled by the Wii's horrible resolution output. It looks totally fantastic in 1080p.
Xenoblade ran at an unstable 25FPS the last time I played, I wonder if there's been any significant optimizations or if all depends on my end now.
The Wii just has awful internet play in general. No matter how far you are, the average Brawl game is laggy as all hell.
actually only brawl is laggy you can actually PLAY mario kart wii on wifi
Damn, this is a good day. ...Agh, if only I could simply put my GC/Wii games into my DVD-RW drive and have Dolphin rip the ISO for me. (But, playing Wii games using Motion controls on a PC is very hard unless you use a genuine remote. I now wonder if there'll ever be rips of models and sound from games like Eternal Darkness, considering Shadow of the Eternals is coming to the Wii U)
Not if you provide your own games/BIOS.
which nobody does
What are some good Wii games that work fine with KB+M or a 360 controller? Basically games without waggle
Call Of Duty: Black Ops Super Smash Bros Brawl Virtual Console games
which nobody does
Because there isn't any BIOS ripping tools AT ALL.
Actually quite a few fairly common drives can read Nintendo Optical Discs.
From my research back when I was trying to get into PC Wii emulation, only these drives can read Nintendo disks
* Hitachi LG GDR-8161b (IDE) * Hitachi LG GDR-8162b (IDE) * Hitachi LG GDR-8163b (IDE) * Hitachi LG GDR-8164b (IDE) * Hitachi LG GDR-H10NBLK (SATA) * Hitachi LG GDR-8082N - USB SLIM Portable Drive"
Only a handful of Hitachi built LG drives. What makes them hard to find these days for a decent price is they are DVD Reader Only drives. Very few people manufacture Read Only drives these days and nobody manufactures those models anymore, so you have to find them off ebay or amazon or some other pre-owned location.
If I have a 32 bit processor, will I be able to run this?
you need a p. decent processor to run emulators and if you have a 32 bit processor it's either old as fuck or an atom, either way I wouldn't expect much
I wonder if metroid prime 3 will work considering it was a mess months ago

I used this. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/CleanRip

It never ran well on 3.0.
Stop strawmanning, if this was Xbox/Playstation/Vita emulator it still wouldn't be news worthy. Nintendo or non-nintendo, I don't think a new emulator hitting the internet is news worthy.
If any of those were possibly emulated, it would be huge news. Hell, even if it was just the Vita, that would mean that everyone had the ability to play the best damn Eastern RPG released in the past decade.

Unless you have an actual Wiimote with Motion+ that you can use on the pc that is.
Rewiring the sensor bar to work with USB is super easy, and then all you need is a Wiimote and a bluetooth dongle.
You don't even need that, two infrared LEDs and a battery. Fuck, a pair of candles will work. [editline]23rd September 2013[/editline] And for skyward sword, you only need it for the initial calibration, after that it uses the M+ to determine pointer direction.
And for skyward sword, you only need it for the initial calibration, after that it uses the M+ to determine pointer direction.
That fucked up so often for me, had to re calibrate every half an hour. Now I only need a good list of Wii Games I can play with a controller. Don't really want to set up all the motion stuff again.
That fucked up so often for me, had to re calibrate every half an hour. Now I only need a good list of Wii Games I can play with a controller. Don't really want to set up all the motion stuff again.
Yeah it is annoying, but it has its uses.
I didn't even think of using the Wii itself as an ISO ripper... Thats genius. Also, I wonder how well this will run Metroid Prime? It never ran well on 3.0.
Prime 1 has audio bugs which depresses me because it's my favorite game soundtrack, but runs well if you just want the game, bit laggy in parts, though. Use only DSP HLE, and be sure you're using D3D9 as OpenGL breaks on Prime, and D3D11 is still slower than 9 in Dolphin right now. [editline]23rd September 2013[/editline]
Yeah, I've made sure this was all taken care of, and yet desync is inevitable. I don't know if everyone is experiencing this, but results have never differed beyond "incredibly unstable"
Make sure to follow this guide, and download the latest build of Dolphin (the one that came out like 20 minutes before this post) if you intend to play Gamecube games over Netplay. https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/netplay-guide/ [editline]23rd September 2013[/editline]
I fucking hate that I have to config Dolphin for every game. Holy fucking shit Star Fox Adventures is finally playable?
Just popping in to say I hope 4.0 makes everything much more enjoyable than 3.5 in general (I'm one of the devs on the emulator; 'Lioncash' to be specific).
