Faith Healing Parents Watch Their Child Die… but Won’t Be Getting Jail Time for It

If only the government had the power to stop mothers from feeding their kid paint chips, Jpaul wouldn't be making such awful posts.
Is everyone really this entitled? Yes I honestly believe this. I don't think the world owes me shit. If my parents were letting me die, then that's just how shit goes, too bad for me. In order to preserve the freedoms of all the decent, thinking, competent, intellectual people out there, my parents should be allowed to fuck up, I'm sorry if people disagree, but that's how I feel. That's the reason we're allowed to own guns; sure they can do a lot of terrible things, but in the interest of the people who have the capacity to use them correctly, they shouldn't be outlawed outright. I just don't like the idea of a nanny state telling me how to do things. If I'm going to be an asshole and make no effort into being a parent and do a shitty job at it, fine, take my kid and put him with someone who is capable of making proper decisions, but don't force me to live a certain lifestyle.
Look, children in other countries die every day of completely bullshit circumstances so that we may be able to purchase inexpensive electronics, so I don't see how anyone who's aware of that thinks this kid's entitled to anything different just because he happens to live in a comfortable first world nation.
And the worst opinion on earth award goes to
Wow.....you are just..wow, you're really...ugh, stupid as hell for thinking it's fine, how could you possibly fucking think parents watching their son die in agonizing pain is fine? Do you know how painful appendicitis is? I don't, because I've never had it, but I have heard it can be extraordinarily painful. If you think it's ok, you're just an idiot, plain and simple.
It hurts like a bitch, like you were stabbed I'm the gut. I had to sleep a night with the pain, it was unbearable
You respect parents essentially killing their kids because of religious beliefs? That's so fucked.
I didn't mean it like that, try actually reading the rest of my posts in the debate before you jump to conclusions, thanks.

But the deaths of children are the end result.
This is disgusting but I think of it this way:
Parents: "Oh Lord why didn't you save our child!"
God: "I gave you a hospital and trained medical staff!?"
stop
No, continue.
This is wholly religion's fault and no amount of No-True-Scotsman will change that.
ill-responsible elders
More like people whom follow their religious teachings.
Facepunch, where everyone should be allowed to be free and do as they believe, unless it's related to a religious practice, then we should take action against their beliefs.
Ironic and hypocritical much.
I'm not saying this is right or anything, they're fucking crazy by any standards but it is their freedom to practice their religion, it's kinda in the 1st Amendment.
I personally would love to see them face jail time and such but it's their right to practice their religious practice and thus I have to respect that.
You are a complete moron.
Right to life takes a massive precedence over freedom of religion. It's why we don't just let a cult go and commit mass murder and then let them off because "we have to respect their religion."
So yes, we should take action against their beliefs when their beliefs happen to be illegal, like letting a child die when he could have been saved.

So...Blind freedom above human life and dignity, right?

I don't see how people can have such an opinion.
it just isn't humanely possible to be that stupid.

I genuinely couldn't care less if the parents got sick and died because they believe in this bullshit, but it's cruel to do it to a kid.
More like people whom follow their religious teachings.
you are honestly crazy about religion
there is nothing wrong with spirituality or religious practice as long as it doesn't hurt anyone

Excellent contender for worst poster of 2012 right here.
Well you can't just go banning religions, that's just totalitarian, which is wrong. You have to give people the ability to enable themselves, not keep them from making decisions. Outright saying this practice should be banned seems like a good idea at first, because shit look it got the kid and many other people killed yes, but it's their CHOICE. The problem lies with the kid NOT BEING ABLE to make these CHOICES. Instead we should create laws that allow the children to make decisions on their religious practices, not have them be forced into them by their parents.
The issue is rights for minors, not the fact that the religious practice killed the kid. So by that, the parents should have severe child neglect and abuse charges.
Banning religions?
What does restricting certain aspects of religion has to do with outright ban on them?
The child even if given the right to make that choice will most likely not take the right one because he/she was indoctrinated into a specific faith since the early childhood, therefore is unable to make independent choice.
Jesus Christ (npi)! People who say "it's in the first amendment" need to pay more attention.
Freedom of Religion, Speech and Expression only go until someone's life is in danger or it conflicts with their way of freedom.
These people need to be charged, religious or not.
The massive amount of impatient users who don't read the entirety of my posts and then just post insults based off one. It's funny, please keep posting, you're really not doing anything but looking like an ass.

When.
See? I can make a stupid, stuck up, head-up-my-ass, one word comment too!

And what else did make these parents do something this awful besides religion?
Religious discussions on facepunch always turn out bad.
you are free to believe what you want as long as it wont harm others.

You need to learn to stop accepting everything life throws at you.
And what else did make these parents do something this awful besides religion?
Technically? Nothing.
Realistically? A whole fucking lot. There's a massive difference between a typical theist and these parents.
Crushing all of those subtleties down into one word doesn't make you clever or witty, it makes you look like a simpleton.
