Rought night eh?
Man comes and pisses all over your doorstep and you open the door to see him, he then continues to poop on your foot, would you not beat him senseless?
That is comparable to this situation.
If someone was pissing on my front door most likely they have some sort of mental disease, beating them up would be the wrong way to handle the situation.
Holy shit he slammed into that Porsche Cayenne at like 30 MPH in reverse. After all the damage he did I'm not surprised people were beating the shit out of him.
it doesn't matter
there's no reason to beat a guy senseless like that
[editline]15th December 2010[/editline]
it's called vigilantism, and vigilantism has no place in modern society
i hope a drunk driver never kills someone you love, but if it ever happens, then you may understand why people react that way to people dicing with other's lives by getting into a car drunk.

That is a fucking awful comparison.
You are quite obviously not the owner of that parked dark grey Cayenne
You don't think it has more to do with how this egotistical prick potentially risked the lives of the innocent people walking around? I mean, drunk drivers kill tons of kids and stuff.
There is no reason to smash your car into other innocent by-standard's.
he was intoxicated. he didn't deliberately do it.

nice appeal to emotion there
but no, I still wouldn't justify assault/attempted murder
Oh, yeah, and here's the suspect according to witnesses:

and if someone is driving drunk, then they most likely have an addiction problem along with other issues (mental illnesses such as depression and substance abuse often co-exist), and beating them up would be the wrong way to handle the situation
People tend to get pissed when some retard crashes into the back of their nice new car.
I understand that, but there's absolutely no reason to beat the shit out of the person
i hope a drunk driver never kills someone you love, but if it ever happens, then you may understand why people react that way to people dicing with other's lives by getting into a car drunk.
remember anecdotal evidence decided by the victims is exactly how we should decide the punishment for the offender.
To be honest, idiot shouldn't have been driving intoxicated in the first place.
Plus the damage he caused, no wonder there was a uproar.
I understand that, but there's absolutely no reason to beat the shit out of the person
To be honest, he may have needed something like that to as a wakeup-call to deal with his problems.
Brutish as it may be, it sure beats the US justice system, since at least here the criminals gets what's coming to them - rich or not.

yeah vigilante justice is perfect!
he was intoxicated. he didn't deliberately do it.
He was perfectly aware what he was doing, alcohol just let him do it.
He was perfectly aware what he was doing, alcohol just let him do it.
have you ever been drunk

Neither does drunk driving.

HAHAHAHAH.
Oh man, seriously?
Literally i'm lolling because your trying to be an e-tough-guy. "i have no emotion, rarghhhhhh"
this guy got drunk, drove his car into someone elses, and then tried to flee the scene, obviously the first thing to do would be to ask him to stop being so bad and get out of the car; but oh wait, he won't? oh well maybe we should just ask him again, oh wait he's driving off into a crowded city centre where he will hit more cars and possible kill people.
oh well, obviously this situation doesn't justify some use of force.
idiot.
remember anecdotal evidence decided by the victims is exactly how we should decide the punishment for the offender.
if a drunk driver killed your family how would you react?
yeah vigilante justice is perfect!
In today's world it kind of is as long as you can properly determine the culprit and nobody dies. I mean, if someone stole my stuff and I found out who it was, I'd probably hit him with a bat and bring my stuff out whilst the toothless bastard is out cold.
Neither does drunk driving.
where did I say it does
NO ONE is justifying drunk driving
[editline]15th December 2010[/editline]
He was perfectly aware what he was doing, alcohol just let him do it.
lol
do you have any idea how alcohol affects a person?
I, too, support physical violence against a person who damages material property.
Good job Facepunch.

so vigilantism consisting of a bunch of people beating the shit out of him to the point where he could've died is justified?
You don't think it has more to do with how this egotistical prick potentially risked the lives of the innocent people walking around? I mean, drunk drivers kill tons of kids and stuff.
I would most likely still be overcome with various shades of rage and anger - and that not because he might run some kids over but because he actually did run into my car. My car is one of the most important things in my life and when you damage it, you'll have to live with whatever consequences my brain comes up with at the time. Might it be yelling or just kicking the shit out of you which is physically tricky for me anyway.

Seek psychological help
I think he did deserve it, I understand he was drunk and not thinking right, but if that's what it takes to subdue that person. And to me that didn't look much like being 'beaten' honestly, they could have done a lot worse.

so you care more about your car than the possibility of kids being run over, and your car being damaged would result in you having a knee jerk reaction possibly consisting of physically assaulting someone?
good to know

I'm German, i am completely within normal parameters.

Not really, what i'm saying is that one of these possible events has actually happened and had an impact on me personally. Not really saying one thing is worse than another.
