That's fucking racist.
your stupid mate
Pictures showing the pilots with their eyes closed because they are tired or not paying attention are racists? Are you trying to say that is their normal face? That's fucking racist.
Attempt at a joke.
Pilots used to do that shit all the time. It was all in good fun. Terrorists ruined it for everyone.
I've lost count of how many times I've visited the cockpit when I was younger, and I know it was prety common that my dad spent a lot of time with the pilots, being a seasoned flight mechanic. Besides, the door was usually open except for takeoff and landing. [editline]12th March 2014[/editline]
Attempt at a joke.
It sucked.
not paying attention
I don't think you know how planes work if you think that matters at all times
I don't think you know how planes work if you think that matters at all times
I don't think you know how planes work if you think pilot error isn't a huge risk. The pilots are there to do what the automation can't do. Systematic failure, but plane can still fly? -OK. Emergency landing at closest airfield. Systematic failure, pilots are tired and not paying attention? -Potential disaster.
On commercial jets both pilots are able to get up and walk around at the same time without placing the passengers in danger except for major course changes or on final approach. It's normal for pilots to invite passengers into the cockpit and hang out - it's nice to have fresh company, and pilots love to show off their planes. There's nothing unusual about that at all. If there was a serious systems failure they wouldn't miss it because they were too busy talking to passengers, the warnings are extremely loud and accompanied by flashing lights.

I don't think you understand that it literally isn't unusual at all, before or after terrorism was a regular public fear.
It's normal for pilots to invite passengers into the cockpit and hang out.
Maybe pre 2001. On western airlines these days there is strict instruction for the cockpit to be bolted shut as much as is possible. Family friend is a pilot, gets bored in the cockpit a lot.
Besides, both pilots should never leave the cockpit. [editline]12th March 2014[/editline] Goddamn, automerge is nonexistant here.
Besides, both pilots should never leave the cockpit.
They shouldn't but in theory they can and statistically it's not a significant threat to anyone. Those pictures were taken in the cockpit, anyway.
I don't think you understand that it literally isn't unusual at all, before or after terrorism was a regular public fear.
It's unusual and worrying now that "everyone is a terrorist" is in effect, because it shows that they aren't taking their security as strict as they are told to. Their personal opinion is not a sufficent reason to relax security on an aircraft carrying over 200 passengers.
They shouldn't but in theory they can and statistically it's not a significant threat to anyone. [editline]12th March 2014[/editline]
Inviting regular passengers to hang out in the cockpit isn't a significant security risk.
I don't think it is. But when airlines and pilots are told it is a security risk, they are to treat it as such.
Yeah no, that's unnecessarily dangereous and stupid.
It's not a good idea for both pilots to leave the cockpit, you are correct. What I'm saying is they can do it without necessarily putting people in danger because of how automated the aircraft is. Anyway I doubt Malaysian airlines have such stringent security rules. Even if they did it's not particularly alarming that they are letting regular, unsuspicious passengers chill in the cockpit. Pilots frequently have to break little rules just to follow the big rules, if that makes sense. A lot more shortcuts are being taken than you probably realize.
Pilots frequently have to break little rules just to follow the big rules, if that makes sense. A lot more shortcuts are being taken than you probably realize.
Shouldn't happen. Though this is Malaysian airlines.
Shouldn't happen. Though this is Malaysian airlines.
The big rules shouldn't be so tight and unforgiving that little rules need to be broken to keep up with them. It's the FAA's fault, frankly. (Most countries use the FAA's rules as a basis for theirs for the sake of standardization.)

Just heard in the news right now (Mexican news Channel 34 here in LA) they pinged some signals in the radar far away from the location and are claiming it is them. Not sure how accurate this is, I noticed some news in the past to have their flaws.
When you see that people get onto planes with fake passports, I'd rather not have the cockpit door unlocked, even though being a pilot can get boring.
The cockpit door was probably locked. The pilots specifically invited those two up because they thought it was pretty gangster to have regular western passengers on their plane and wanted to hang out with them. It isn't like they just walked in and demanded photos with the pilots.
Just heard in the news right now (Mexican news Channel 34 here in LA) they pinged some signals in the radar far away from the location and are claiming it is them.
As in, still airborne? Because I'm pretty sure a 777 couldn't fly this long lol
The only crazy theory I've heard is that this is a false flag op done by Murica and dem Jews. Something about the CNN reporter Richard Quest appearing on the flight cabin and filming the crew 2 weeks before the incident. Somehow this is some crazy plot to overthrow the current leadership and implement Murican puppets in the government. TL;DR Muricans blow up the plane, pins it on terrorists, Murica takes control of SEA security Conspiracy nutjobs are getting nuttier
Isn't that literally the plot to a Punisher comic? [editline]12th March 2014[/editline]
Though this is Malaysian airlines.
???!! Relevance?

It's not a good sign that these pilots break in-flight security rules because they get bored.
As in, still airborne? Because I'm pretty sure a 777 couldn't fly this long lol
You're absolutely right, there's no way it's airborne. Only way would be something like this. Which obviously wont happen. Relevance?
He might be implying that Malaysia, being one of the old british colonies, and having a human developement index of 0.769, tied with Libya and Serbia, might have some sort of negative effect on the quality of Malaysian airlines. That's just my guess, and I'm not saying I think Malaysia is a bad country.
Design a plane where the passenger section is like the saucer on the Enterprise, where it detaches if the plane experiences any fatal errors and is reinforced facing the fuel tanks/engines. Passenger section ejects off. Parachutes open. Floatation devices inflate. I call it the Homer.
Funny enough, the original CVR inventor teamed up with a bunch of Canadians to make something dubbed the CVR mushroom which was a square top that would sit on top of the aircraft The idea was, was that if an emergency happened, the mushroom would deploy off the aircraft and land somewhere else so investigators could get to it first, the tape was stored in the centre and the base was just used as more of a shield It never got released or put on a plane and went un-noticed, but hell it sounds good to try
Its in malay but apparantly they found a life boat in the strait of malacca. http://www.hmetro.com.my/articles/JumparakitgetahdiSelatMelaka/Article?BeritaUtama

Found an english article on the life raft found. Whenever I call someone and their phone is off, I'll just get a prerecorded message saying something along the lines of "user not found", or it just goes straight to the voicemail.
But you guys guys What if they're just playing hide and seek?
