The shamans in are saying that the plane is somehow 'suspended stuck between three countries'. I shit you not. They literally brought one from Indonesia just to do this. This time they came with a goddamnn coconut powered magic carpet Seriously. WTF.

You should watch them in action.
You think they may of sea dived and some survivors were trying to inflate a raft?
I'm thinking the pilot may have attempted to ditch the plane on the assumption that the passengers were prepared and was able to reach for the life raft but was unable to get onto it, the plane also went missing at night. It is also possible that the passengers never reached for the raft and it just drifted away from the wreckage. Here's an 'anatomy' of the 9M-MRO. It went into maintenance less than a month ago. Sums up all my posts in this thread in a single image. Some interesting statistics there (not sure if confirmed/reliable?) - 53,000hrs and is only 12 years old. That's not an old airplane at all. The first 777 flew in 1994, making this one a later model. I've not done much work with Boeings but I believe that flight instruments by 2002 (when the aircraft was delivered to the airline) were all digitized. When you look at that diagram though, and how many seats are in the cabin - it really hits you how many people could be lost..
Interesting use of words in that article - no mention of it being confirmed to be from the flight or anything of the sort.. Given that the area where the flight was last seen is a major shipping lane, this liferaft could be from a ship simply come detached. On the other hand it could be the first piece of wreckage found from the airliner. Guess I'll keep my eye on the news today then!
Wouldn't life boats come standard with the aircraft and be fairly easy to confirm a match?
Wouldn't life boats come standard with the aircraft and be fairly easy to confirm a match?
Yes, floatation devices do come with the aircraft from the manufacturer. I would imagine they have serial numbers like any other component of the aircraft and that serial number should, in an ideal world, have been recorded somewhere at the airline.
Sadly it sounds like they weren't able to get the raft on board and it sunk back into the sea. They are supposed to be trying to retrieve it though.
[thumb]http://puu.sh/7sCpv.png[/thumb] Found some boats! Other than that, nothin. idk what that is. It could be a boat?

Facepunch:Helping the investigation by finding boats.
I can imagine that facepunch has managed to locate the wreck and it makes national headlines
Better boats than just clouds that obstruct the grid by 10 blocks.
It can't still be in the air can it? It wont have enough fuel which means now it is definitely on the ground or in the ocean.
Pretty sure cell phone networks are configured differently in each country, setting it so you hear ringing without actually having the target phone ring is fucking stupid. Whenever I call someone and their phone is off, I'll just get a prerecorded message saying something along the lines of "user not found", or it just goes straight to the voicemail.
What the CNN article didn't mention is that when a phone is turned off, it sends a sign off message to the tower saying "I'm turning off, don't contact me until I turn back on!" So in this case it would go straight to voicemail, or "user not found" if a call was placed to that number. If the phone was destroyed or out of range of any tower, it never had the chance to sign off. In that case, a paging signal would be sent from whatever towers the phone was last connected to and you would hear a ringtone until the network stops trying to find the phone, at which point the call goes to voicemail.

Found two more boats at http://www.tomnod.com/nod/challenge/malaysiaairsar2014/map/21431 And accidentally rediscovered the boats found by kirovich http://www.tomnod.com/nod/challenge/malaysiaairsar2014/map/21846 http://www.tomnod.com/nod/challenge/malaysiaairsar2014/map/24080 I have a feeling that if the wreckage is in the ocean then it might be hiding behind one of those huge clouds.

This is almost as good as the boston marathon witch hunt
