I'm sorry, but as much as the exterior visuals and the exterior aircraft model have progressed - the cockpits in FSX/P3D all look too flat and bland to me. Desktop simulation has come a long way and I suppose to some extent, it doesn't matter how nice it looks - because it is a simulator - but for the amount of GPU resources that software hogs, for the relatively poor visual quality, it's really quite poor.
You could just build a simulator like a lot do then you'd have physical buttons
Gotta remember that FSX is a 9 year old game.
Yeah this is true. FSX in my mind is just bloated and unoptimized. The GPU is hardly utilized at all and all of the processing is offloaded to the CPU. So much processing could be put onto CUDA or OpenCL but like you say, it is a 9 year old game and Microsoft have lost a lot of their interest in the Flight Simulator franchise - so I doubt development with CUDA/OpenCL is much of a priority for them.

Yeah I'm sure I could. But thousands spent on building a simulator as well as the hundreds spent on the software and the addons needed to make it realistic? I might as well just put that money into getting a light aircraft license. And that is in fact what I did do!

Fuck. And I still remember playing FS04 like it was yesterday.

or do both so when your plane goes missing the news thinks its suspicious that a pilot has a flight simulator. /sarcasm
News is consulting a guy who guest starred on Lost. CNN knows who to talk to.
The only thing they haven't blamed the plane going missing on is extraterrestrials. Getting a bit ridiculous now
So now the prevailing theory is apparently that someone hacked the flight computer to make the autopilot fly the plane to Australia.
What the fuck?
EDIT: I'm not fucking around. Look.

We can detect a makeshift boat but we can't detect a fucking Boeing, logical

There are actually people who think planes can just keep flying up into space.
News is consulting a guy who guest starred on Lost. CNN knows who to talk to.
I'm just concerned about the one reporter on CNN who hasn't left his seat in that canadian flight simulator for a straight week
also there seems to be an endless influx of random flight attendants in interviews as of late
-this was bad, sorry.-
There's one thing for certain and that's all the passengers are dead or it's landed on a remote island, because someone would of spoken out about them being on the plane or whatever by now.

That's it I'm done. I can't believe stuff like that is actually physically printed and sold. Is this one about the Air France?

Nope, MH370. It was published last week I think.
British tabloids really are that stupid.

...Sunday Sport is a parody paper. It's the printed equivalent of The Onion almost.
...Sunday Sport is a parody paper. It's the printed equivalent of The Onion almost.
It's not even parody, it's just the most ludicrous stories they can find, and countless escort ads.
yet i'm not talking about that specific flight but in general ... the engine report system is fully automated
unless engine are shutdowned it reports state on engines via ACARS via radio or satellite in range each hour ....
one of the indications is that one was disabled much later than the normal transponder system
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/malaysia-airlines-flight-370-probe-digs-into-past-of-all-on-board-missing-boeing-777/
The transponder was turned off around 01:21 and the ACARS' last transmission was at 01:07, it was supposed to send it's next transmission at 01:37, 30 minutes later. So it's every 30 minutes. There was probably an electrical fire, which disabled the plane and forced the plane into the ocean.
Interesting read: http://www.wired.com/autopia/2014/03/mh370-electrical-fire/ (Sorry if it's been posted, but I'm not about to read through 20 pages)
Edit:
Regarding the flatness of flight simulators: In X-Plane, it's not flat at all, and having a good payware aircraft makes all the difference in the world. Digital Combat Simulator A10C doesn't feel flat either. But it's always going to feel inherently flat, because of the way it's projected to the user. (Flat screens)

I did not know this.. The red banner at the top and the "The Sun"-style formatting made me assume it was a 'serious' tabloid.
Rated informative for teaching me something today.

the onion actually prints too, their papers are free in open newsstand boxes around Chicago at least. I know this because half a dozen homeless guys standing right in front of the 'FREE!' boxes at the exit of the main train station trying to sell you the latest issue for $2

Sun =/= Serious Tabloid
Hell the Daily Mail, Telegraph or Independent are more reputable.

I picked up a printed onion copy in a subway in dc once. it was a pretty funny read

serious as in it thinks it's a serious paper, whereas the sunday sport knows outright that it's a complete joke and plays along with it.
We have news!

Not sure if true.

Its a joke, they published an article a few years ago about a B52 being found on the moon. They are just rolling out the same things again.

And I was really thinking England was more sane than us
Still, at least your BBC news anchors didn't ask a panel of experts if the plane was swallowed by a black hole like ours on CNN
Update on this:
Royal Australian Air Force has spotted possibly debris from the plane
