So not playing golf is a sport?
Are you really trying the straw man approach? If you're serious: no, it's not a sport. But if someone asked you "Do you play any sports?" and you say, "I don't play golf," then I guess you could call yourself a non-golfer and say it's a sport to avoid golf or something. In truth, this doesn't work with non-belief systems.
When the hell did I specifically say that desecrating a church was justified? All I did is pointed out historically significant and overall positive riots that involved property damage and said that sometimes property damage can be loosely justified when looking at the riots retrospectively. The people doing it should still pay for the damages
just-a-boy said that the "Occupy" events "need to get their shit together" and you said that "Italians have a right to be really fucking angry".
Doing that is not going to help your case at all. You are making yourself out to be an anti-religious extremist and legitimate, fair atheists viewing this thread are probably embarrassed by your behavior.
My case? All I did was point out that there are other country's besides the US, country's where things are different. That is all my post meant.
just-a-boy said that the "Occupy" events "need to get their shit together" and you said that "Italians have a right to be really fucking angry".
Yes, Italians have a right to be really fucking angry. Their system has completely failed them in every way.
Are you saying atheism isn't a religion?
How the fuck do you even read that in my post? Seriously? But no, atheism is not a religion.
Burning cars and vandalizing stores is stupid as fuck, but I'm all for the destruction of churches and christian symbols. Religion is a plague, one of the worst diseases in human history.
You're posting indicates you have one of the fullest neckbeards in history. Yes we get it religion sucks and you don't feel bad but try to look at it from an outside, totally sane person point of view. This protest against the government turned into fucking up a church. A place where people who are mostly decent and levelheaded go and choose to believe something you don't. Now when they show up they've got to look at it all fucked up over something that was completely unrelated.
Are you saying atheism isn't a religion?
It isn't, it's a lack of belief. [editline]17th October 2011[/editline] Atheism lacks all of these: Religion is a collection of cultural systems, belief systems, and worldviews that establishes symbols that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes, to moral values. Therefore it is not a religion.
My case? All I did was point out that there are other country's besides the US, country's where things are different. That is all my post meant.
You failed to point out that atheists remain a minority.
How the fuck do you even read that in my post? Seriously? But no, atheism is not a religion.
Yes, it is a religion. http://atheism.about.com/od/atheismquestions/a/AtheismReligion.htm
It isn't, it's a lack of belief. Therefore it is not a religion.
This is incorrect. Atheism can lack all of those, but honestly, why call yourself an atheist? You'd be better off stating the truth as it were- that is, saying you are irreligious. http://atheism.about.com/od/atheismquestions/a/AtheismReligion.htm
I always assumed that Catholicism was a giant influence in the legislation of Italy. If that's the case, then I can definitely see why Italians' anger is geared toward the Catholic church.
Yes, it is a religion. http://atheism.about.com/od/atheismquestions/a/AtheismReligion.htm
No, it's NOT. You only have used really poor sophism (and a random link) to explain why atheism should be a religion. Even if there are non-theistic religions, like buddhism, they all have rules, moral codes and such. Atheism does not. It's not an ethical and ideological system. It's just the absence of beliefs in any kind of deity. There are no rules, no "entrance exams", no ethical or morale codes to follow. Saying that "not believing it's a belief, 'cause you believe in not believing" it's a sophism, not an actual convincing statement. Not playing cards is not an hobby, that's it. You can't say is an hobby to NOT play cards, because you can't get a positive from a negative: that's just the basic rule of logic, the law of noncontradiction. A cannot be A and not A at the same time, like Atheism cannot be a lack of belief and a belief at the same time.
Interesting conversations I've enjoyed reading, but the headline is the attack, not the church.
In the discussion of "atheism is a religion": I see atheism as not having a relgion, meaning it's a lack of religion.
Kung Fu Jew, is not collecting stamps a hobby? [editline]18th October 2011[/editline]
In the discussion of "atheism is a religion": I see atheism as not having a relgion, meaning it's a lack of religion.
Atheism means not believing in a god, you can be a religious atheist (there are atheistic religions) but atheism itself isn't one.
Are you saying atheism isn't a religion?
I don't think that's at all what he was saying but to answer your question, no atheism isn't a religion
should have burnt down the entire building
