I've got a feeling that these squid will become the new 'testing' subjects involving harpoons.
The first bathyscaphe was supposed to have dual, giant. poison harpoons for encounters like this but they never got installed in time for he first dive.
The picture looks so much like a mediocre computer model for some reason, the second one especially.
Big squids are creepy as all hell
look up the bigfin squid, cry yourself to sleep
look up the bigfin squid, cry yourself to sleep
you mean that long-armed thing that hovers instead of swimming and also teleports closer every time you blink??
look up the bigfin squid, cry yourself to sleep
Please, that has nothing on the hatchetfish. Japanese got bored of whales huh?
If it's like other squids, and one of it's arm is a penis, is it the largest penis in the entire animal kingdom?

estimated to be as long as eight metres if its two long arms had not been chopped off
:ohdear:
When do we discover the Kraken?
it's still busy discovering itself.
When do we discover the Kraken?
What about Cthulhu?
People say space is the final frontier. I think our earth's seas are the final frontier. I wonder what mighty creatures we can discover in our colossal, deep and dark oceans.
I wonder what creatures we could find in the infinite vastness of space.
We will probably be dead before that happens.
Looks a bit like a Reaper
When do we discover the Kraken?
When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east.
Cephalopods are some of the neatest creatures out there. This is really cool.
So who chopped the giant squid's arms?
I they they got eaten by a sperm whale. They often find scars of suckers and teeth on them, so they probably eat giant squid. [editline]8th January 2013[/editline]
Looks a bit like a Reaper
Reapers resemble cuttlefish more than squid.
Now they need to find a Colossal Squid
They might already have. This is from one of those "lets find wacky supernatural ish shit out in nature programs" called Monsterhunter, but this time they actually find something interesting. skip to 09:10 That thing looks like its the size of a school bus, though it might be an illusion owing to camera angles, but still, if it is real then that thing could give a whale a run for its money.
Oh goodie now that the giant squid is out of the way
the megalodon went extinct 4 million years ago, as the whales it fed upon migrated to colder climates it was unable to persue them, and the entire species starved to death.
Since it's the size of a fucking boat probably for the best Still quite sad though
the megalodon went extinct 4 million years ago, as the whales it fed upon migrated to colder climates it was unable to persue them, and the entire species starved to death.
That's what YOU say. That's what ALL of tha taffers say... But what is tha truth? I know tha truth, as I saw it with me own eyes, matey. Back when I still had them eyes, and the Megalodon took ma sight from me...

I can see why people think it looks like it's from a 90's video game. I went to see the frozen giant squid at my local aquarium and it just looked so unreal, so alien and just strange it was quite amazing to see it
sorry ol' geezer, but if a shark the size of a small jetplane went for your eyes.. yeah.
That shark can swallow other sharks whole christ how horrifying
Might i suggest this fine series http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gKYmQZlFXI and on the subject of giant squids, From the same series. I don't get why a group of squids isn't just called a squad because that would be fucking cool.
If it's like other squids, and one of it's arm is a penis, is it the largest penis in the entire animal kingdom?
Their arms aren't really penises. In fact, they don't really have penises, per se. (They have one of their arms ending in a spoon like depression called a hectocotylus, which is used to ejaculate packets of sperm from inside their body and deposit it inside the female's body cavity)
The Japanese will capture it, kill it,[sp]feature it in porn,[/sp] and eat it. Not in that order I hope.
There's really no better order than that
