• Trump signs executive order reversing workplace protections for women.

I hope someone is keeping a thorough list of what Trump is doing, because I genuinely feel concerned there's just so much shit he's fucking up that I doubt the next person who comes to office will be able to bring back all the things he's cutting easily with just executive orders. Edit: I mean, just imagine for a moment that you're elected the president of the United states, and the hardest and possibly only staple you'll be remembered for is "I had to clean up the last guy's mess."
Again, you paint the broad brush of "everyone tells them that! What are you stupid?" How is anyone supposed to fix something like that? I believe in nurture vs. nature, and you bring up a good point of parental and cultural influence. However, I bet even the men and women shouting about gender wage gap and gender inequality dress their own daughters in dresses and buy them barbies and tell their sons to go outside and ride a skateboard. How do you suggest we change something as deep rooted as that? I don't dispute the case historically, that woman were the home makers and child bearers. They are the child bearers, they HAVE to be the child bearers. Why is that bad? Why is that unequal? Why does difference have to mean discrimination? Again, point me in the direction of a FIXABLE problem. Don't just yell from the rooftops GENDER INEQUALITY and expect shit to happen.
Firstly, if we only ever attempted to do anything to solve problems when we knew the exact answer and knew every proponent was 100% pure of any contribution to it, we'd never ever solve any problem, especially not one as large as gender inequality. We know there's both an unexplained pay gap (as stated above anywhere from 2-7% IIRC depending on the study) and also significant differences in the behaviour and choices between the genders. As HumanAbyss said, it's not some evil power we need to fight, it's a million pervasive and subtle little things we say to children, actions we take to provide reinforcement. The fact that about 20 out of the 25ish percent income gap can be explained doesn't mean there isn't a problem, it just allows us to identify it as a different problem which still should be tackled. An example of this is that while girls who take charge tend to be called bossy, boys get encouragement as leaders. Girls are also more likely to be taught to expect to be bad at subjects like maths, and encouraged into more humanity based fields (with the opposite being true for guys), resulting in perfectly capable students not taking STEM subjects to a high level because they believe they can't do it (I've seen this first hand). None of this is done with malicious intent but it is a systemic problem with our culture. None of it will be solved overnight with one fell swoop, but that doesn't mean we can't try to encourage women to engage in leadership and STEM subjects, and yes at the same time encourage men into jobs like nursing and teaching.
As someone who has actually been sexually harassed at work multiple times at different jobs, this is a little alarming.
Well Obama makes it pretty clear, I'm sorry, 77 cents to the dollar. What do you have to say about the female dominance in the biology/nursing or teaching fields? Are those fields sexist against men? I bet you are going to say that is a ridiculous claim, that only proves my point. [editline]13th April 2017[/editline] I guess it absurd to say that statistically women don't hold as many high positions as men because they aren't as motivated? Men are more willing to work more hours, move for work, and are more likely to ask for raises STATISTICALLY SPEAKING.
The article you posted goes to explain that it's more nuanced than you're making it out to be. It also acknowledges that there is a small but unexplained wage gap
We do not want to suggest there is no pay gap. A report by the American Association of University Women found that, after accounting for a variety of factors, including college major and occupation, there was an unexplained seven percent gap one year after graduation. The gap then grew to 12 percent after ten years

I don't understand, does this guy just want to kill everything Obama put in place? This makes me so angry...
Yup, him and the Republican establishment are basically at the mental level of a vindictive 10 year old who just got his older, more talented step-brother's room and starts tearing down his posters, breaking his furniture, and taking a colossal dump on the carpet.
I'm pretty sure that's all it is. I don't think Trump is malicious enough to revoke the order because he felt like it, and as far as I'm aware there isn't a big push on the right to limit women in the workplace. It's really just about tearing down Obama's legacy. The good news (for Obama) is that he is being contrasted with Trump and is currently doing much better than the latter.
Trump is a major ceo, he will positively demolish worker's rights if he gets the chance. Nevermind Obama's legacy, he'll go after FDR'S.
First. And I know I'm going to take flack for this. I worked with women at Honda of America. They got paid exactly what I got paid no more no less. However, they were able to say "I'm a woman, I can't do that job, my body isn't built for it." So men had to do these jobs and get paid the same as the women who were doing the easier jobs. How in the world is that EQUAL?  "“We have an executive order that essentially forces women to pay to keep companies in business that discriminate against them, with their own tax dollars,” said Farrell. “It’s an outrage."" Isn't it discrimination to make a man do the harder jobs for the same pay? It's funny how the democrats used to be UNION supporters who also supported the idea that the harder jobs should get paid MORE.  " Sexual harassment and assault claims could (and will again be) forced to be settled through arbitration." That's great news, you know how many people have been fired without due process? She said he did this so fire him. He was overheard saying this racial word (who knows what the context was) fire him.
Mate this thread is a year old.
obama's legacy was 7 Trillion dollars to the national debt and NOTHING to show for it. It was also the BIGGEST increase in people going on welfare and leaving the workforce. We NEED to demolish obama's legacy.
I get the feeling that you don't know you're on a predominantly left leaning forum.
Gee, I wonder why the man who bragged about sexually assaulting women would want to reverse protections put in place to protect women in the workplace from sexual assault and harassment.
Guess who's predominantly on welfare? Republicans.
This was a year ago my dude
I believe you mean CROOKED KILLARY
Is that why Republicans are adding trillions to the deficit with corporate tax cuts and massive spending increases? If you're angry about fiscal irresponsibility oh boy do I have some news for you about what's happened in the world since Obama stopped being president.
But those were purchases toward making america great!!!!!
Did that guy's posts just get stuck in a buffer for a year or something?
Yeah, uhh, no, no we don't. There's nothing good to come from fucking over the poor and the middle class in favor of enriching the upper classes even further.
Whoops lol
He is making everyone aware of his support for sexual assault and all of the steps he is taking to prevent prevention.
