There comes a point in your life where you gradually start giving less of a shit about "what if"s. If another driver smashes into me I'd either be dead or deformed in one way or another either way, a seat belt isn't going to magically save me. Plus there are really not a lot of places where you can accelerate to fatal speeds. And if they are, any seasoned driver should be able to easily spot these areas and be a bit more careful both with himself and any other potential reckless drivers while passing those places. Life isn't a movie where you're comfortably driving down a street completely oblivious to the massive death truck hurling your way at 200kmh from the side. [editline]1st October 2014[/editline] I guess I'll keep these in mind next time I'm driving head first into a concrete fucking wall.
Never drive again.
If it's uncomfortable you can always wear a belt pad, I used to use a neck one when I was a kid [editline]1st October 2014[/editline]
My car doesn't care if the drivers seat belt isn't plugged in. It used to go absolutely apeshit before I figured out how to disable the chime if you so much as threw the mail on the passenger seat though. Because that totally makes sens right?
Mine has a weight sensor, my dog is 2 stone and it doesn't go off, but both dogs sat on it would (so 3 stone / 42lb). I just used to plug the seatbelt in and they sat in front of it.
I feel naked without wearing a seatbelt, I can't drive without one on me
Somebody tell me why buses have no seatbelt? Just because I'm not likely to fly through a windscreen doesn't mean I'm happy to snap my neck on the plastic seat infront of me...
Generally, the logic is that they aren't seen as necessary. A bus is going to be larger than 90% of vehicles on the road so impacts won't be as severe (for the bus) in most cases. School buses at least, statistically have a very small number of injuries and deaths, to the point that they are regarded as "one of the safest vehicles on the road" (NHTSA). I'm sure coaches are a fairly small amount as well. I'm not sure if that's really an adequate justification. Given that is a purely reactionary solution to the issue. Because when bus accidents are bad, they get bad, especially roll-overs.
So a fucking stunning amount of people find minor discomfort a bigger problem than death? That is equal parts hilarious and pathetic.
If people want to be stupid and die in a accident then let them. People like that never learn no matter how many times you fine them. Although if they're under 18 they should lose their license.
My car goes 'bing bing bing' constantly if anyone isn't wearing their seatbelt while it's moving
I once had to drive across four states with an asshole who refused to buckle up when I was a kid. It was six hours of that noise constantly.

My favorite thing is this. People would rather spend $15-$30 and wear an ugly shirt all day than just buckle up.
I've never had a seat-belt bother my neck in any vehicle, except gm vehicles. And then all you have to do is pull your shirt over your neck slightly and no more irritation.

I'd like to begin by saying that I always wear a seat-belt. But sometimes I feel like they are really unnecessary and uncomfortable when driving in rush hour or "stop and go traffic" where you don't even reach the speeds of 20KM/h (~12MPH). I understand that seat-belts are meant to save lives but at incredibly low speeds (<30KM/h <18MPH) they do become a nuisance.
Sorry you don't value your life, and that no one else does you make you put on a seat belt.
Reading this hurt my brain no offense. (bad grammar)
I feel naked without wearing a seatbelt, I can't drive without one on me
Until I bought my Saturn, I drove a Chrysler with Corinthian Leather seats. I didn't have a choice, I had to wear a seatbelt. If I didn't wear a seatbelt, then throwing that car into a hard corner meant that I wouldn't be in my seat for very long. I can't stand driving without a seatbelt today.
Natural Selection
Right, because everyone knows that Automobilus Fordicus evolved as the superior being to the human race, yes?
The seatbelt in my aunt's BMW slices through my neck, but the seatbelt on both my mom's Lancer and my own Clio V6 feel like wearing clothes. I can't be in the car without wearing them or it feels like I'm naked.
I only wear seat belts on unfamiliar highways. When Im just cruising around the city or driving to the shops there's literally no reason to wear one because you're barely ever going above 60kmh anyway. They're just uncomfortable as fuck.
I hope you like becoming a bag of potato chips because you're going to die if you get hit
I can't wrap my head around the kind of attitude it takes to reuse to wear a seatbelt. It takes 2 seconds to buckle up. You are very likely to get into an accident at some point of your life. You can't prevent it, its bound to happen. It's most likely going to be a minor crash, that's where seatbelts make the difference between unharmed and serious injury with possible long term consequences or death. What kind of juvenile bullshit rebellious attitude compels people to not take the simplest of safety precautions? If you can't even be arsed to do that, you're clearly not mature enough to have the kind of responsibility required to operate a vehicle. To some people driving a car is just some kind of fucking joke I guess
The only way I can see a seatbelt being "uncomfortable" is when it's a bit high up and the edge digs into your neck a bit. Just pull up your collar. Edit: I did not see the one day ago on this thread I am sorry.
We have a car which has none and isn't legally required to fit them because when the car was made it wasn't compulsory. I do say I don't like riding in it.
is it a british car? if it is it's a wonder it's still running
It's such a tiny change that causes next to no discomfort (maybe I'm just used to it?) that makes a huge difference in traffic accident mortality rates. It should be a no-brainer.
My car only had lap-belts in the front and nothing in the rear when it was produced. Now it has a full set of proper three-point seat belts on all four seats. Not going to drive a car without three points.
Im so used to using a seatbelt that it feels strange riding without one
I remember when I was walking back from work and my battery died on my phone I got bored so I looked in the cars that passed and within 20 mins, 9 people was on the phone and 36 people was not wearing a seat belt
A few years back I was riding with some one who was a friend at the time, and he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, so I asked him why he wasn't.. His response was I am protected by the hand of god, if its my time to die in a car accident its gods will :) He was an extreme Jesus freak, never talked to him again after knowing he'd risk his life that. :v:
I feel naked without wearing a seatbelt, I can't drive without one on me
That's mainly because you're already conditioned to wear it. Needless to say, that's a very good thing.
I wonder what % of people have colostomy bags....
