Im only using what history says, and history says he didnt exist. Science has challenged the bible and science wins, why should History be any different, THE BIBLE IS NOT A HISTORICAL DOCUMENT.
May I ask on what grounds you claim it not to be a historical document? Also, what evidence is there that proves Jesus did not exist?
And the bible is not?
I wouldn't call a storybook biased.
Ok then don't celebrate it Go work instead
Did he say December holidays suck? Noooo... [editline]06:09PM[/editline]
And the bible is not?
The most biased storybook of all-fucking-time.
May I ask on what grounds you claim it not to be a historical document? The evidence is in History itself, History has to mentions of a man named jesus besides forged documents by the catholic church and many of the abrahamic religions. You can do the research on your own but as you dig deeper into history youll see there is no mention of him or any mention at all. Here is an even better fact, Jesus is frequently referred to as "Jesus of Nazareth" yet Nazareth did not exist at the time Jesus was supposedly born.
The most biased storybook of all-fucking-time.
This thread is proof of how distorted history has become because of that damned book.
This thread is proof of how distorted history has become because of that damned book.
Have you seen the world lately?
Here is an even better fact, Jesus is frequently referred to as "Jesus of Nazareth" yet Nazareth did not exist at the time Jesus was supposedly born.
Maybe the name changed, or there was no name?
Maybe the name changed, or there was no name?
The town didnt even exist and the supposed place of where Jesus' family lived was deemed to be a place of the dead. All of these supposed places were mentioned in the Bible, the places exist but their purpose of being there was completely changed to benefit those of the bible. History triumphs again.
Maybe the name changed, or there was no name?
Maybe Jesus isn't god and the bible is some dudes twisted way of fucking the world over. And it worked.
Maybe Jesus isn't god and the bible is some dudes twisted way of fucking the world over. And it worked.
The bible is a collective book of stories and "information" written over many years and by many people.

I, however, believe that Jesus did exist. It's important to remember that even if Jesus didn't exist, the whole concept of religion is not entirely far-fetched; while there are plenty of other one-off religions, such as the Roman Gods, Christianity shares it's roots with both the Muslim and Jewish religions as well. Surely three major religions that all essentially worship the same God can't have come from nothing.
Well I'm sure the Bible does contain some valid history, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't even have any contemporary(eyewitnesses documenting things they saw etc) accounts of Jesus, the best is hearsay 20 years after the fact or something? But at any rate, isn't there a long history of all these biblical things being 'discovered' all the time? To the point where a new one gets discovered just about when the previous one gets debunked and of course you can guess which one's publicity eclipses the other. For example let's say... this: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/12/091216-shroud-of-turin-jesus-jerusalem-leprosy.html

Anyway. Jesus isn't an era.

Religion one starts from a man named Abraham, Abraham "educates" others on his religion and recruits others to help him spread the word. Religion 2 begins when a man who believes this so called god told him how things should actually run, he "educates" others and gains followers. This religion sparks a new following of the "same" god. and going by this you can see how one religion branches off into another and another and we begin to think that because so many people believe in something it must be real, when infact they are no more real than the ancient religions.

Hunterbrute, you need to understand that, like science, historical evidence isn't absolute. Just because some findings point to one thing, it doesn't entirely disprove an entire ideology. While based off the facts you've read off a wikipedia article or a biased athiest's history book may lead you to believe he didn't exist, a lot of evidence exists that says he does. The fact is, nobody knew if he existed or not.
I, for one, like the way you argue against his points and then play the "I don't care what you believe" card. Anyway. Jesus isn't an era.
Oh dang, you're absolutely right. In future I will just force my views on others and not accept that they might choose not to believe in something. /Sarcasm In more simpler terms, I was actually playing the "I will try and explain it to you, but at the end of the day I can't tell you what to believe" card. Why? Because I am not an asshole.
This is straying pretty off topic, but I find the way hunterbrute tries to argue his point really fucking annoying.
He's still the most methodical debater ITT.

Here's an interesting video on the subject: If you have 'a lot' of evidence that he did exist then e-mail those guys, they clearly overlooked something.
This is straying pretty off topic, but I find the way hunterbrute tries to argue his point really fucking annoying.
And I find those who are willing to argue one point but not willing to accept another extremely annoying aswell, the fact remains that Jesus didnt exist and the only evidence anyone can pull out of their ass are biblical documents. Why dont we just start naming Eras after all the gods of myth now, sounds like a good plan to me.

A regular person would of course not be documented, but seriously a fucking miracle worker whose birth alone was a miracle was not important enough? He did not exist, THERE IS NO PROOF AT ALL TO HIS EXISTENCE ONLY CLAIMS FROM RELIGIOUS DOCUMENTS. He did not define an Era, the books mentioning him did and thats because people were uneducated and needed something to "inform" them. Why not just name it the Era of Uneducated idiots, oh wait thats the Era we live in now.
He did not exist, THERE IS NO PROOF AT ALL TO HIS EXISTENCE ONLY CLAIMS FROM RELIGIOUS DOCUMENTS.
There's no proof I just sneezed does that mean it didn't happen? I don't believe there was a man who could walk on water or turn water to wine. But what the fuck is stopping there from being a real man named Jesus who had a load of stories written about him?
