When will the republicans realize that the more than they enable trump the more damage the party will receive in the long run nowadays they aren't even being given enough time to react to the scandals. They haven't managed to organized a proper response to yesterday and they already have to deal with another scandal and it's only Tuesday!
Also he has yet to deal with a crisis that isn't of his own making
an hour later Donald Trump is seen wrestling with several aides for possession of an Android phone. his Twitter account is updated: "YEAH I TOLD HIM TO END THE INVESTIGATION SO WHATASDFITSMYPHONEGIVEITBA"
We got 14 hours till I give out the 8am tweets. Trust me they will be spicy

Comey’s written account of the meeting is two pages long and highly detailed, the associates said. The details of Comey’s notes of the meeting were first reported by The New York Times.
EDIT:
all i can picture is the GOP, desperately trying to hack into trump's twitter account to lock him out before he confesses again
You know it looks like hes imploding, but does anyone have faith in the Republican base to do anything about it?
You know it looks like hes imploding, but does anyone have faith in the Republican base to do anything about it?
Honestly with the way things are going Trump saying that "I could kill someone and my followers would still love me" is getting fucking scarily accurate and I think it applies to the GOP as well. No joke. I'm actually legitimately terrified Trump would get away with murder.
You know it looks like hes imploding, but does anyone have faith in the Republican base to do anything about it?
theyd probably way rather have pence in than trump
You know it looks like hes imploding, but does anyone have faith in the Republican base to do anything about it?
I sure don't. They seem content to look the other way.
theyd probably way rather have pence in than trump
Sure they would, but they would have to impeach him first. And they show no sign of doing so. I don't see Pence as being good for America, but he'll definitely be better than Trump.
Yet another high crime of office. For those paying attention, this makes at least three separate felony crimes that have come to light in the past week, all impeachable. 1) Trump rdering Comey to drop the investigation 2) Trump firing Comey for attempting to expand the investigation 3) Trump openly blackmailing Comey in an attempt to prevent him from going to the press about why he was fired
also it's said that
An F.B.I. agent’s contemporaneous notes are widely held up in court as credible evidence of conversations.
I assume (hope) blackmail is a crime regardless, but for example in Germany the chancellor can stop investigations through official channels.

Trump has said he decided to do it because of 'the russia thing'.

Like the wall, the Muslim ban, the mass EO spam, the healthcare fuckery, and pretty much every other time they try and create what they they tentatively insist on calling "legislation."

Remember that time trump unambiguously committed multiple felonies and no one did anything about it
Can they stop an investigation for the reason that they are being investigated and want to impede that investigation?
Oh man
Oh my lucky stars. That's what a tyrant looks like.
Oh my lucky stars. That's what a tyrant looks like.
Who cares, it's better than Crooked Hillary and her emails, right?!? :hammered:

It assumes that politicians care about the country more than their red team.

We're not talking about policy here, but actual crimes of office that undermine our national security, and the integrity of our entire federal government.

In all seriousness this is pretty huge. Chaffetz previously declined to go after Trump, but now it seems like he's full steam ahead. Pretty clear signal that something is afoot in the House Oversight Committee.
Just for clarification: How much of this can/can't the president do legally (in theory/how is it limited)? I assume (hope) blackmail is a crime regardless, but for example in Germany the chancellor can stop investigations through official channels.
Each of those is a high crime of office that could prove reasonable grounds for impeachment.
High crimes and misdemeanors is a phrase from Section 4 of Article Two of the United States Constitution: "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."
1) Trump ordering Comey to drop the investigation into Flynn is a wild abuse of power, and a high crime of office. 2) Trump firing Comey for his insistence on not only continuing the investigation in the Russian links between Russia and the Trump administration is another wild abuse of power, an obstruction of justice, and a high crime of office. 3) Attempting to blackmail Comey with threats of releasing incriminating tapes if he spoke to the press regarding his "dismissal" is extortion, which is another wild abuse of power, a high crime of office, and an impeachable offense.
could comey's memo be equal to the smoking gun tape? oh boy oh boy I hope he testifies publically soon
