Shigeru Miyamoto has said that a new Nintendo IP is coming either Q1 or Q2 of 2014. Plus I think Smash Bros is as "killer app" as it gets, and thats coming too.
They need more than just one killer app though. For example, Microsoft has Halo, Gears, and Forza.
I have to admit, I'm still waiting for the Deluxe to come in white, and hopefully around a $300 price point. But I do intend to pick one up this holiday should those come to pass.
I have a WiiU and I think it's worth buying, not if you want to play games right NOW but later on when there's more games out. It's a little bit more powerful than a PS3 and for me that's good enough, not really interested in the next gen. [editline]31st July 2013[/editline] One annoying thing though is that the discs are proprietary (not DVD or bluray) and it doesn't play DVDs or blurays, but then again I have a DVD/bluray player anyway, obviously I'm not telling people to spend money on this but that's what I have right now

Yeah, why would you buy the console if the games you might want in the future are not out yet? You should wait to find out whether those games are any good and the console might also be cheaper at that point.

Nintendo's games tend to be of fairly consistent quality so it's a fairly safe bet that if you enjoyed the past games in a series you'll enjoy the new ones, even if there's nothing particularly new or exciting about it. (See: NSMBU, nothing particularly new or exciting but it was actually fairly fun despite being very difficult at times.)

The console is worthless without the games so why not just wait? It might even be cheaper by the time you get it
3DS had to get the ball rolling with first party titles before it started selling really well. The WiiU will have the same success I'm sure when Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros come out.
that is one hell of a confusing statement :v:
What's confusing about it? I own the console so I can firsthand tell you right now that it's worth buying later on but right now it is still good [editline]31st July 2013[/editline]
3DS had to get the ball rolling with first party titles before it started selling really well.
Just so everyone knows, this is a Q2 Report: This is important because during the month of July, Pikmin 3 has been a System Seller in Japan, selling 163k systems in the month of July alone.
I think it's time for Fangz to get a new title stating his new job of dispelling rumors and fixing mistakes about Nintendo.

And a good reason to get the console early would be for budgetary reasons. Consoles are expensive. Games are fairly expensive as well. So if you spread the cost out more you'll have less trouble. Edit: Also what I mentioned earlier about preventing shortages. The Wii was fairly difficult to obtain for awhile due to a lack of stock.
