• Tanks are heading to Kyiv: two people shot dead

I really hope the government backs down. If this turns into some kind of civil war or murderous mass anarchy it could be really brutal. The country is basically split down the middle ethnically, with Ukrainians in the west and Russians in the east. The eastern half of the Ukraine used to be part of Russia before the Soviet Union and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Some of the pro-EU people are also very anti-Russian. If it gets really out of control there will be a lot more deaths, and they won't just be from protesters and riot police in the Kiev. It has the potential to be not just 'the people vs the government' but ethnic Ukrainians against ethnic Russians.
The priests are building their own fortifications, that's funny.
Is this an uprising? No sir, it's a revolution.
After reading about the french revolution today this really feels like it.
The priests are building their own fortifications, that's funny.
are they? I just see some platforms underneath them. Two priests walked along the police line, presumably saying something to the men as they went right to left.

If half the population wants to live under Russian rule then who are we to tell them otherwise?
Tirefires relit. Starting to burn nicely again. Man those riot officers have shitty jobs. Most of them have been sitting in this position for ages now.
Stupid joke: The priests are probably buying the protesters more time to build the barricades. :v: Anyway, I seriously hear much hammering sounds. And... holy shit, the priests just stood there for like, hours.

I mean you're doing your duty and shit and yeah, you're comrades won't like it, but after all going against your own people so brutally doesn't do shit. Why not just use the power given to you?
Such a large no-man's land. I'd figure there would be at least a few more people meandering about. [editline]23rd January 2014[/editline] And so, the new border of Ukraine was established.

Who's to say you won't get your shit kicked in if you suggest giving in to the guy next to you and he's all for destroying the revolution and he drags you off and announces you're a traitor. there's a lot of fear of punishment for disobeying, it isn't just a matter of making your paycheck like a lot of people seem to be positing also I'm glad I'm not paying attention to social media commentary, god knows how many people are going off on tangents about how "if I was there, something something I'm rambo and could take them all"
will they cycle in the orthadox preists or are those ones gonna be standing there forever?
No, their everlasting vigil will separate the two groups indefinitely.
So the fire wall has returned. Regarding priests. These platforms are needed just for them to be able to stand properly on ice or whatever combination of ice+dirt it is.

Am I the only one seeing a problem in building a fire-wall in front of your ice-wall?

Plus you'd be out of the job.
bla bla government is evil bla bla
Seriously? Snipers watching for defectors? Want to resort to wild speculation? How about businessmen paying people to participate in riots, thugs and gangsters participating committing false flag operations against their own side to put the government into worse light. You wholly one sided view of this is unbelievable. Edit: you are only seeing things from the side of mostly pro eu propaganda, even on the bbc things are spun in favour of the west. RT seems neutral but still you are only seeing the protesters camp, as if the opposition is some bastion of freedom, civil liberty and trade genius. Here in uk there have been times when groups over 5 people would be dispersed for fear of trouble. The government there wanted to stop the riots because they are not going to submit to a noisey majority. Say what you like about torture and kidnap, I don't believe it. It could be anybody doing that. This angellic opposition image being presented is totally unbelievable and dangerous. It would be naive to think this is entirely 1 sided. Good vs bad. Majority vs a minority of evil government with secret police.
With all those RPG Class images floating around I can see people making wall of fire magic jokes now.
"why is the tire fire going out?" "it was tired". Stream chat has its gems :v:
Man, watching them all stand there is unsettling, even after watching from last night too. I hope it doesn't come to this but I'm expecting someone to lose themselves and cast the first blow after which everything will go to hell

You wholly one sided view of this is unbelievable.
um you do realize that all the oligarchs and "businessmen" support the Yanukovych right? they are pretty much the reason why he got into such power in the first place and yes there are false flag operations but plot fucking twist, they were done by thughs hired by the goverment; "titushky", they were paid to make the protestors seem more violent than they are
It's scary to think all it would take is some idiot with a molotov to spark the clash.

Suddenly, the priests charge out to the policemen. That'd be gold.
