the white of flashlights look extremely blue because the camera's white balance is compensating for really orange street lighting. That's also why the fires look unnaturally yellow at times, everything's shifted.
You experience this effect with halogen headlights and salt vapor streetlamps

your eyes/a camera is adjusted so the majority of the environment looks the most naturally colored (this example sucks due to the blue saturation in the darkness but it gets the point across). natural 'white' becomes an opinion based on what your eyes are used to when you view it. Good alternate example is if you wear red/blue 3d glasses for 5 minutes then take them off, your eyes are seeing entirely different spectrums from each other, with a heavy bias against the color they were looking through. Red side will be seeing a shitton of cold cyan overlay, blue will be a ton of hefty warm yellows

i've heard you can get the same effect by looking at a really bright orange object with your eyes closed for a few minutes. the cones in your eyes that receive the color red are burned out by the time you open them, so that the blue ones overcompensate and make everything blue instead

I dont think Ive seen anything other than like 1-2 stun grenades used by the police in the streams. Not even tear gas canisters are being fired in response to fireworks and Molotovs.
