I don't think any of them used firearms, they're just brandishing them for intimidation and possibly photo ops.
Yeah shooting at riot-cops is a quick way to get yourself and about a thousand of your friends fucked up.
I wonder what they're going to call these protests.
The Great Tire Revolt?
The Clank Revolution?
The Great Clanking Revolution of 2014
It's sometimes called "Eurowar" around here.
It's sometimes called "Eurowar" around here.
But more often it's called "disgusting extremists' attept to get power" or something along the lines. At least that's what my TV says, it must be right.
Who should I be rooting for?
Who should I be rooting for?
No one. With informational mess regarding both sides only way to have clear view is to have trustworthy people on both sides 24/7 spectating events live. Wich is impossible.
Who should I be rooting for?
euromaidan, the goverment made new laws that made protesting illegal and activists have been shot, tortured and a few have "disappeared" later to appear as a dead body in the woods
some extreme right groups have joined the protests and they cast a bad light on it but they are a small minority, most are normal people fighting for their rights

also here is a map/story of how the revolt is spreading

For a small minority those radical take quite a big spot in events. Why won't "normal" protestors do something about it?
Who should I be rooting for?
Let's see. We have two sides. The current goverment and the protesters.
Let's sup up why you SHOULDN'T side with these parties, since these are facts and why you SHOULD is a matter of preference:
The goverment:
- Pro-Russian
- Corrupt
- Depothic (http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1352340)
- Ruled by oligarghy
The protesters:
- Decentralised, without clear leaders or goals
- Radical
- Basically know nothing of politics and often pursue utopic blurry goals
Both sides:
- Extremely violent. Protesters have been reported to have tortured multiple people and throwing molotovs at riot police is generally not polite. The police have started it all with their violence, oficially killed more then 11 people, robbed oposition parties of their personal data (just breaking in data centers and taking HDDs), humilated many protesters and are probably the cause of protesters mythicaly disappearing from hospitals.
- Not sure what to do.
- Not willing to compromise.
Choose the lesser evil.
I side with the protesters, because they at least have a slight chance to change something for the better.

what do you mean a big spot in events?
they aren't leading anything and theres nothing to be done they just wear their logo and walk around

How about weapon supplies?
I'm watching the ground stream right now and I see taht a lot of these people are older, they look serious and like they believe in what they are doing, however, a lot of the younger people I see are smiling and happy almost relishing this. It seems like a festival to them imo. I don't know a whole lot about what's going on, but I sure hope those people don't get a rude awakening int he form of a bullet. Some of them are dressed in nice clean clothes and have cutsie hats and gloves and shit, and are walking around texting ont heir cellphones. I'm worried that this doesn't mean what it should to those people.

Is it just me, or the guy to the right is actually holding a chainsaw?

that rude awakening has already happened, people were already shot
right now there's a ceasefire, that's why people are not as grey looking
Im concerned that almost no police have joined the opposition at this point
Im concerned that almost no police have joined the opposition at this point
Ech, they're super-fucked if they desert and the revolution fails. By just doing their job, whether for or against it, they're saving their own asses.

ps. the militia are the police, the people underneath were confused
[editline]25th January 2014[/editline]
also those are the regions which are under the control of the revolters, this means that the police are just afraid, the moment the revolutionaries assume control the police joins them
they are just ordinary people, not any demons, just people who are afraid

I like how all major finnish news outlets are still calling what's happening in Ukraine "demonstrations".
Is it just me, or the guy to the right is actually holding a chainsaw?
Yeah thats Chainsaw Guy.
I'm glad to hear that police are switching sides in occupied places, cuz at least they'll be there to maintain order and not just have anarchy
Yanukovych has reportedly offered to give the job of Prime Minister to opposition leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Deputy PM to Vitali Klitschko, and to amend the constitution to reduce the President's powers
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-25896786
If this is true then this is amazing. However, I can't help but feel its a bit unfair to just hand over PM to somebody, shouldn't they hold elections?
Can't stop imagining Klitschko going around punching everyone
[editline]25th January 2014[/editline]
"YOU PROTEST, YES?"
I think they should bring back Yulia Tymoshenko, She was deposed because of Yanukovich basically.
What the hell happened to RT? Looks like some scary shit... take a look.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine and Deputy PM are not elected, they are always chosen by the President.
It's also not amazing, it's just a cheap attempt to bribe the opposition leaders with power
That just means the camera is offline
Yeah, I know that, but why is it offline in the first place? I think I heard some explosions/gunfire, and then this.
