And here you see the result of the new law. You can't protest peacefully anymore, what else is left?
Not the tire guy!
I guess they got tired of him.
A map of the protests from a proper news agency:

Was there many 30 minutes ago.

Doesn't have a gun. It's not military, thus not armed.

At this point I just feel sorry for everyone involved on both sides. I just hope the government budges some more.

wasn't that the time frame the tanks are coming in?
You got to hand it to the Ukrainian people - this would never happen in the UK or the USA.
Any attempt at a passive-aggressive protest here would end in fire.

The Ukranians have been doing a pretty swell job at ensuring it doesn't turn into a full-scale looting party, and that the destine target always remains the destine target. In the United States, people tend to be unable to keep their dicks in their pants in the regards to looting, and its the first thing they usually do.

Nah we're too partisan, whatever the people are protesting, the other half of the country would take the opposing side just to be different. Then the media would smear it, and eventually people will get bored and it will die. That's what happened to Occupy.

In the west, it's not a riot until we smash and grab.

thats because its easy to get a new tv than it is to storm a government building when you're angry with them

well I don't want to be insulting and compare the problems in the UK and the US with those the Ukrainians have to deal with, but ultimately - yes.
Take a look at this guys
"Standing well! We are constantly swapped; we’re fed better than in the barracks. I read that Berkut employees are being paid and are practically handed real estate [by the government]. This is not so, at least no one here knows anything about it. Maybe commanders were promised something, but ordinary guys definitely don’t get anything. It’s my first day, my friend was wounded. A Molotov cocktail hit the head, he took off his helmet and his head caught fire. Got serious burns, lost eye sight. And he had a family, he is the only provider. He won’t be able to serve anymore. We all pitched in to help him.
Media presents them as heroes, fighters for ideas of some kind, but I see them as ordinary bandits. Over in another country they would have been quickly dispersed, but we are not allowed. There was no order. That’s the greatest disappointment. Anyone who threatens a police officer is a criminal.

“They call themselves the people, eh? Quite some people they are! Just look at them. They seized and destroyed the city center, equipment is being burned, people are being injured. In only a week almost 100 of us ended up in hospitals. I have a family, kids, and I’m standing here for them. I’m not interested in politics. Life for us, the common people, will not get any better if Maidan wins. We already had their Yuschenko, so what? They stole then, they steal now, and they will keep stealing. The oligarchs are playing their games there, while we’re dying here for them. I’m standing here for my children, and they [the elite] are all criminals there. If only we had an order, we would disperse them all in two hours.”
I would probably be smashing and grabbing at some National Guard armories to be brutally honest. Once you take those over though, you are officially labeled an enemy combatant by the US Government, and everything goes to hell from there.

what a load of shit. everything they say can be said about them just as easily, the main difference being? they are acting as enforcers for a tyrannical regime and the protestors are resisting it. you don't wanna get injured by protestors? don't be a riot cop
Does anyone have any information on the political forces working with the protesters? If they are successful and if the government falls who is going to fill the power vacuum? It's one thing to overthrow a government, but it's another to set up a permanent decent democratic government.

Agreed, they not only chose to not appear in the protests, but show up to work on the other side. they can switch any time they want
gotta love the 'my friend lost his eye to a molotov and he had a family to provide for!' well what about the families of those dudes being abducted from hospitals and tortured and murdered in the woods?
