It's really heartwarming to see the Bekruit helping the opposition now. I guess it just goes to show that not all are Yanukovych supporters.
Ofcourse, the police are as much a part of the people as they protestors are.
They also benefit from shedding themselves from Yanukovich.
A lot of them were probably just following orders, although I keep saying, they should've refused service before the mass slaughter that took place a few days ago... and the shooters who killed injured, people who were trying to give medical aid and unarmed protestors need to be found and tried before court.
So should ofcourse rioteers who bashed police on the head with rocks after they were down, or who comitted atrocities otherwise.
The rest should gain amnesty.
Yanukovich needs to go, and I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of the bloodshed here, especially now that he is refusing to go.
He has few pawns left... Berkut, police, safetyforces have all openly declared loyalty to the opposition.
And the head of the Army was sacked by Yanukovich, rumours have it, because he told Yanukovich he would refuse to order his troops into the streets.
This is an interesting insight into the other side

Holy shit, I thought using guns was terrible but now they're just mass murdering people. They're shooting un-armed people for fuck sake. They are shooting people carnying wounded....

not anymore, they have stopped the shooting already, the people have pretty much won
Holy shit, I thought using guns was terrible but now they're just mass murdering people. They're shooting un-armed people for fuck sake. They are shooting people carnying wounded....
Apparently there were special groups within the ranks of the police/outside their ranks, doing the shooting. It's a giant mess. They said the president resigned, but he's saying there's no chance in hell he's giving up power.
I feel like I am not at any right to try and justify any of what has happened, it's ugly.

How is it a look at the other side? It's pretty much pro-revolution spirits you can read amongst the cops themselves even?
VICE: Did you at all consider not obeying orders during the attack?
Maryan, 20, Conscript Soldier, has been in police service for nine months: Are you kidding me? Not obeying the orders means a minimum of five years in prison. It is a crime. And can you imagine what happens to a policeman in prison? Besides that, our only order was to stand and hold the cordon.

VICE: Were you scared when you heard you were being sent to Kiev?
Mykhailo, 21, Conscript Soldier, 11 months in police: Of course I was scared. I would have never come here if I had a choice. I just came to serve my term, like any real man, and that's what I get for it. I was struck by a Molotov cocktail a few days ago, but I didn't get hurt, just my clothes caught fire. My term of service was supposed to end on the 23rd of February. I can’t imagine how on earth this happened here.

Do you think the situation could be resolved peacefully?
Of course it could! It could if our bloody governors could use their bloody brains.
And the 60 cops who were captured are receiving medical aid, and are not being abused from what I can gather from the whole interview.
I also saw a video of the moment they were captured, I think in the VICE documentary, and some men (protestors) said they felt sorry for the cops they captured, since they were just young boys. "Nobody will lay a hand on them" he declared towards the camera.

Maybe the better question is : What do you mean by other side?
How is it a look at the other side? It's pretty much pro-revolution spirits you can read amongst the cops themselves even?
because... they're the other side???
jesus fuck I'm sorry they didn't proscribe to your predetermined fascist puppy stomper image
The cops that were captured were militia conscripts. (In Black)
I doubt they'd treat captured berkut (in blue) very well, since those are the ones responsible for the more questionable and aggressive police actions.

Russia isn't going to do shit.
They would be shooting themselves in the foot if they sided with a fucking monster that orders live-ammo against unarmed people.
And He's just impeached by His own government

you mean... like Assad?
lmao

NoDachi I'm getting tired of this. Can you please act normal to me? I asked a simple question..."What do you mean by other side?"
You could've just said "Oh I just ment because the cops are getting a word in." and that would've been a perfectly satisfying answer.
Stop judging me on preconceptions you have about me... just because we had an argument once you're going to keep this up forever?
Have some decency man. It was just a normal question....
It was a blisteringly stupid question.
I'm sorry you're in capable of seeing this as anything but purely two-dimensional

Jesus that's not a fearmongering headliner image at all. Russia wouldn't risk it, they don't want to make a really stupid mistake.

I'm sorry I do not live up to your standards.
We're having a deeply political, moral and intrinsically complicated discussion, in your native language here my friend.
If you would like to continue this conversation in my native language, where I do not suffer from a slight language barrier, which might make things come across differently as I sometimes intent, then by all means start speaking in Dutch, or German for that matter since I am fluent in both of them.
I also consider myself fluent in English, but apparantly I do sometimes get things across different than I intend, since I can in no way account for the response I just received when looking at what I intended to say. I do not at all view this as two-dimensional...
There are rumors of a large scale mobilization in Russia
From who?
You're all late. It's essentially over.
Yanukovich was dismissed by the parliament approximately 40 minutes ago.
From who?
Nevermind. I read it on a Russian imageboard, so it should be taken with a massive pinch of salt
Considering Ukraine has already basically opened it's arms wide and is talking to Germany and the IMF about a loan, Russia would be the epitome of stupid to do anything.
Russia probably won't. However there is massive troop movement in Iceland. Iceland has mobilized its troop, and he going to invade.

Iceland will send the single policeman that ever shot a person as special forces

Oh. What are you even doing there? Have surplus brain cells?
