American news media has literally nothing to say about this, it's barely mentioned on their websites at all, just a ten second clip on NBC. The world needs to know what's going on right now, as this could blow up into something massive.
I really didn't know that tires burned for so long. The firetrucks have been at it for the past hour and only now did they make a dent in the fire. I know the protesters are fueling it, but da-a-amn.

They'll probably do longer coverage on it went they do their world news segment. [editline]22nd January 2014[/editline] But I agree with you, they should just be covering this in general.

A thing to note about the Ukrainian opposition, it's not just the nationalist party that was mentioned. It's about four parties, each separate. one of them headed by the former PM who was jailed by the state as soon as her term was up. One of them has been pushing for a more western base than Ukraine, it's headed by the current champion heavyweight boxer of the world.
They will probably cover it as much as they need to and no more. Countries don't like their people to be inspired to rise up, and let's be honest, America and the UK have gotten away with murder with the Human Rights front already.
I haven't been following this closely. Can someone explain what's up with the fires?

It's not getting full coverage because of the Olympics + terrorism being a much greater concern to us than this.
I haven't been following this closely. Can someone explain what's up with the fires?
In order to blow tyre smoke onto the police
What would be the best way to get a demonstration going? I feel we should be doing something, people are getting hurt and nothing is happening.
Firewall!
What terrorism??
Oh, I don't know... maybe the actual terrorists who have been caught planning to blow stuff up and the multiple threats from known terrorists groups directed both at Sochi and the athletes themselves.
[t]http://puu.sh/6usD9.png[/t]
I thought the west wasn't supposed to be the world police anymore?
The problem is that they only are when its convenient.
I thought the army was expected to side with the protesters here?
I thought the army was expected to side with the protesters here?
The head of the army got removed recently iirc
I thought the west wasn't supposed to be the world police anymore?
theres a difference between occuping a country and fucking it up and condemning violence against protestors
the right-half of that fire wall's starting to look seriously dangerous
Apologies, I assumed you meant terrorism and the Olympics as two separate problems.
also the police can't aim that watercannon for shit
Did someone just throw a flashbang or something
The bells are ringing. Is this significant?
holy shit fireworks

Holy fuck that firework machine gun tho.
Did someone just throw a flashbang or something
welcome to every 3 seconds in kyiv
where the fuck are they getting all them tyres from
does someone have a stream closer to the fire than the Ustream one, or pictures of the wall of fire? It looks really cool from afar, but I can't imagine how it is up close.
