julian's collab was ok and i think LYTD is my fav track super super disappointed by Doin It Right, panda bear's collab was the one thing that had me sorta excited about the album and it was pretty wasted on a simplistic 808 throwback track
touch sounds like an elton john song on shrooms
I really want to hear this song, whatever it is. A finished version by whoever came up with it or something. I'm bummed it wasn't on the album, as awesome as the real Lose Yourself to Dance is.
It's this song with some effects added and chopped up https://soundcloud.com/yellowire/tonight-is-the-night-beato
Gotta say, this stuff would be the best elevator music ever.
Doesn't beat Alive 2007
Makes me wonder how the live shows will be. Alive Tour was amazing, saw them at Vegoose with Rage Against the Machine and Muse but I can't see them doing something like the pyramid stage/DJ set after this... It'd be very odd too. They can't do a gig without playing Da Funk or Harder Better Faster Stronger and that stuff sticks out like a sore thumb alongside this new material.
I think it's ok
Reading this thread I think I am the only one liking the whole album.
I feel, kind of disappointed. I had hoped for the amazing beats on par with Digital Love, One More Time and Around The World. Quite a lackluster IMO.
i really want to like this album but it's just not exactly what i wanted from DP not that it's a bad album by any means, and there are some great songs in it, but overall it's just not quite my cup of coffee
Human After All 2 as far as I'm concerned
did u just diss daft punk creators of modern electronic music you'll regret it when music dies and daft punk isn't there to reinvent disco and save it!! [editline]14th May 2013[/editline] the sad part in all this is that daft punk fans are celebrating the "rebirth" of disco but there's a 99% chance that if you throw any Chic record at them they won't like it because it's not daft punk
The only reason someone would dislike this album is if they were comparing it to Daft Punk's other work all the way through. I remember seeing an interview where they said most people won't like it because of its different feel to the past 3 albums. So I listened to it thinking "this isn't going to be daft punk" and I love it. To those people saying it's lazy, or that it's repetitive or whatever I seriously have no idea what you're talking about. This album is great. Why do people have this insatiable need to compare things with other things?

A running theme of critique is that the album is dull and tries way too many things, because it is and it does.
but it's been done better
well, nothing comes to mind. what's done what this album did but better?
well, nothing comes to mind. what's done what this album did but better?
Chic did Disco better, LCD Soundsystem did Neo Funk better, Gorillaz did collab albums better etc. [editline]14th May 2013[/editline] Doin' It Right only stood out for me because it was mostly Panda Bear's work.
the start of Touch reminds me of Deadmau5's strobe for some reason

Thanks for mentioning it!
Shame that they didn't keep Touch creepy the whole way through. Before the vocalist started singing I was terrified. Overall the album is eh for me.

I don't hate this album though, but it just doesn't live up to its predecessors.
well, nothing comes to mind. what's done what this album did but better?
LCD Soundsystem
I'm just waiting for the remix of the songs to start popping up.
'Beyond' is a sick track, although an instrumental would be better cause the vocals & lyrics are crap.
'Beyond' is a sick track, although an instrumental would be better cause the vocals & lyrics are crap.
This applies to most tracks on the album. The vocoder stuff definitely doesn't work well here. To be fair Daft Punk's lyrics have never been a high point. Except on 'Around The World'.
well, nothing comes to mind. what's done what this album did but better?
Loads of bands have already been mentioned and there's a shitload more on DFA What really shits me is when I read an interview in which Daft Punk themselves stated that this new album would bring back a golden age and that it no album had ever sounded like this one. it really isn't either of these things and anyone who praises it for sounding unique or worse, for 'bringing back disco' really needs to spend more time listening to and reading about music because it's a pretty ignorant thing to be asserting Worse still, they had the nerve to say that apart from bands like Animal Collective, there were no electronic acts in the modern era that were pushing the boundaries of music so basically the 'burden fell to them' to fix electronic dance music with RAM by making something really ambitious Seriously there are so many good electronic acts that deserve the praise and hype that Daft Punk gets and doesn't always deserve, for them to state that there are no good electronic music bands is incredibly arrogant and egotistic and if that's really their attitude they should get the hell out of the music business
this is so fucking funky. [editline]14th May 2013[/editline] reminds me of chic [editline]14th May 2013[/editline]
i disagree with GLBTM being better than Doin' it right but I think you're right about within, Within was quite weak the album is by no means bad, it just makes me want to go listen to discovery
this exactly
Terrible album compared to the previous ones.
Everyone kept saying Motherboard was one of the better songs I found it to be one of the worst :v: [editline]14th May 2013[/editline] I want to listen to tunes not creepy alien squishing sounds
Really enjoying contact, doing it right and instant crush. Motherboard tho however just doesn't sit right with me. Also I wish Giorgio by moroder didn't have the talking at the beginning, but find the rest of the song pretty cool.
