The graphics are. :v: [editline]09:08PM[/editline]
I thought it was a PC exclusive.
The graphics are. :v: [editline]09:08PM[/editline] Hey I was gonna edit that!
Looks great. Didn't like the first one at all.
The NanoSuit looks like someone pumped it up with air :pwn: .
I hope they optimize it well.
I hope they optimize it well.
it's crytek of course they won't [editline]12:41PM[/editline] far cry ran like dick when it came out, crysis ran like dick when it came out, crysis warhead ran exactly the same as crysis albeit technically a little smoother as they added effects and it ran the same. this will run like an equivalent amount of dick [editline]12:42PM[/editline]
The NanoSuit looks like someone pumped it up with air :pwn: .
probably over the top usage of tessellation
Looks a good deal more dramatic than the first one. Kind of reminds me of the Mad World trailer for Gears of War.

I can't imagine that the amount of detail and scale could run so well in any other engine. I was fine playing Crysis on a 7900GS because I wasn't committed to running with everything on full. The fact that I could see a huge island full of vegetation and pretty detailed models was impressive and even at the medium settings I played at, it was still a good looking game compared to everything else on the market at the time and it ran just as well as they did. Crysis 2 will run like dick if you put the settings higher than what your PC can handle just like any other game would, it's not a case of lack of optimization but the fact that it has to do so much to make it look so good. [editline]09:13PM[/editline] Although now that consoles are in mind for Crysis 2, maybe it'll be another GTA IV and will need a lot of CPU power because they needed to use those more than the GPUS in the consoles.
Looks like Nomad pumped some iron. :v:
It happened recently, that phone/pda is still alive.
WOW, WHAT A TEASE. I wanna play it now.
I hope I can still play Crysis. I ran Warhead fine so hopefully I can handle this on a High setting or Normal at least.
I hope I can still play Crysis. I ran Warhead fine so hopefully I can handle this on a High setting or Normal at least.
Well, it runs on a new and improved engine, you can expect it to be much more optimized than CryEngine 2.
This is going to be a console to pc port. They've only been showing off the console versions of "CryEngine 3" which only real improvement seems to be console support. In order to run on consoles it's going to be dumbed down. The only real selling point of Crysis was the graphics, don't get me wrong the game was fun, but the only real reason it sold was because of the graphics. On a console, I don't know how they're going to manage to get the sales.
Dear Crytek, Please let Crysis 2 be a PC to Console port like it should be. From, me.

They've been showing it off on the consoles because the consoles are a bigger market than the computer. Common sense, no? We've said this time and time again; don't judge a book by its cover. Yeah, it will be dumbed down for the consoles but judging by the videos, it will still look good. That is debatable. I know plenty of people who bought it even though their computers were shit just because they wanted to play the game regardless of graphics. Graphics were a showy part of the game but to say that it is the only thing that sold the game is a narrow point of view. And yes, it will still probably be dumbed down but like I said, it will still look good.

I have never met anyone who has said "I bought Crysis for it's brilliant storytelling", the main selling point of the game was the graphics. The first point on the back of the case is "STUNNING VISUALS - UNMATCHED VISUALS and intensity" The game isn't released, so obviously all I have to rely on are engine PDF's and trailer but from them I haven't been too excited.

With CryEngine 2 still being the epitome of what video game graphics can look like, there isn't anything like that to advance to, especially when a portion of the fan base is complaining about how they can't run the game smoothly. Instead, they are adding features to pull together what the previous engine had already set. You're expecting too much. Neither have I, but everyone I have met had said "I bought Crysis to sneak around stealthily or run in guns blazing in a fairly wide and enticing environment, just like I did in Far Cry!" and I can't argue with that since I personally liked Far Cry as well. I haven't been excited for any games, let alone engine demos. This way I don't fall into the hype if the product comes out less than what I expected. Who knows, maybe you will be happy with what they have done with the new engine.
I hope they optimize it well.
Seeing as it's going to consoles, I think they'll have to. Unless they want it to play at 15 FPS.

agree. contrary to stupid belief, crysis is amazingly well optimized for how it looks
Performance depends drastically on level design, the less there's on the map, the better.
Performance depends drastically on level design, the less there's on the map, the better.
kind of a captain obvious statement don't you think
The trailer was completely crap, It didn't really show anything, but atleast we got something, so thats the good thing. And about the New nanosuit, I agree that it is too fat, I prefer the new nanosuit, but would be 10x better if it was thinner than that... :L
You're expecting too much.
No i'm not, I'm expecting Crytek to act as they have done in the past. Release insane visuals and great gameplay. In this case, I think we only get the gameplay, I'm not saying the visuals will be bad but they will not be up to what we expect with crytek.
Buying this shit for the 360 because i cannot afford a good comp :[
Okay lets get things straight, CryEngine 3 is a modified version of CryEngine 2 so that it is more optimized to run on consoles, it is NOT toned down. Of course you won't be seeing maxed out settings for consoles but I assure you it's going to be very close. The PC version will be running the engine in all it's glory if you can, the settings to make it look as good as possible are still there, think of it are still there. Why do you think they would add things like Global Illumination and such if they where no upgrading the engine..
The trailer was completely crap, It didn't really show anything, but atleast we got something, so thats the good thing.
It's a teaser trailer. Teaser trailers, as a general rule, suck. I hate them.
New nano-suit looked too over the top. Like, too super hero-ish.

You say people only buy this game for the graphics but when they decide to make the game as fun and intuitive as possible, you are disappointed because they didn't focus on graphics? Crytek fans are getting exactly what they expected. A game from 2007 which still surprisingly holds the crown for the best graphics even now in 2010 with added gameplay to make the game fun, contrary to what many critics say. It is mind blowing how you are disappointed with them. I say again, you expect too much.
I just watched it change from 11:00:00 to 10:59:59 Whoopee. And I don't see why they would go to the trouble for such a short teaser. I mean, a full-blown trailer would be worth it, but this just seems odd.
