I would LOVE to see thunderbolt replace USB honestly
Ain't gonna happen, especially with how much Intel has been against the idea of Thunderbolt expansion cards for older computers with plenty of pci-express bandwidth.
Worst is when it fits in the ethernet port on your first try and you totally think it's okay and good to go, so you don't look at it, then wonder why your mouse won't work. I've just learned the rule of thumb that, if it takes less than three times, it's in wrong.
or you succed and then a big ugly screen pops up on your computer saying "higher than normal voltage detected in ethernet port, shutting down NOW"

Ethernet ports are actually isolated with mini transformers.
At-least they SHOULD be if they followed the Ethernet specifications
Now make it not require sub-millimeter precision to slide the fucker in, ethernet ports dont have that problem
It isn't a necessity you dong head it is just nice ffs. It creates a more universal and simplified standard and runs along the same lines as optimization. It is a funny trope many people experience and we are celebrating a funny ass joke about how no matter the intelligence level of a human being, we are still prone to such minor faults, it is a humbling quality of this type of comedy. You seem to be on a pretty high throne about this and are determined to make out others are stupid.
It goes without saying the next standard will bring with it better performance, what do you think they have been doing all this time? In fact we have known about the projected performance increase for the majority of this year.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#USB_3.1
I don't remember criticising USB 3.1, just the fact the people aren't in the habit of making an effort to look at the connector before they use it. I would have thought being the one with a higher IQ you'd be the one who'd want people to make as little mistakes as possible on their own rather relying on technology. On another note, micro USB is pretty faulty, they should really go back mini USB .
It's just the hollow-holed side up, it's really not that difficult to be honest

I'm thinking something like this surrounding the USB port but obviously the entire port would have to be sunk into the case slightly so you can access it from any direction.
Entirely unnecessary? Yes! But will it make my life MARGINALLY easier? Hell yeah it will!

Probably because they wouldn't be able to run Thunderbolt at full speed, you'd need a 3.0 x16 card to just be able to run 3 Thunderbolt channels (And since Thunderbolt uses 2 channels per cable, you could run a grand total of 1.5 cables off said card)
Edit: Wow, how about I read better (GB/s != Gbps). a 3.0 x16 card would be able to run 12 thunderbolt channels, or 6 thunderbolt cables.

you're literally getting your panties in a twist about the fact that people sometimes mistakenly try to plug a USB in upside down, and that people like to make the 4th dimension jokes about USB ports because of this common silly mistake
But people who make this mistake must have downs, but you don't because you're perfect
I still keep trying to stick USB's into ethernet ports
this seems to always happen to me with my printer, it has both ethernet and usb type b on the back, right next to each other

I make every other mistake though, such as imperfect grammar, spelling missing out words :suicide:. I'm clearly out of my depth here so this is the final comment from me.
Going to have to upgrade all the computers (and not my laptops) for this. Ugh. If people look at the cables they can see which way it goes up (hint: the side with the USB logo).

NOT ALWAYS. There's always that fucking troll cable that's like I'm going to have the USB symbol on the bottom. Why? Fuck you.
Finally it'll stop taking 3 tries to plug it in the spots you can't see.
this
for some reason IT'S NEVER RIGHT THE FIRST OR SECOND TIME YOU TRY IT
I swear to GOD those plugs actually change shape after being pressed into the hole
I've just learned the rule of thumb that, if it takes less than three times, it's in wrong.
I use that rule of thumb in the bedroom too.
hopefully this one won't exist in 4-dimensional space
hopefully this one won't exist in 4-dimensional space
nope, just a standard quantum 3-manifold with a compressed time dimension, no worries
