Man Killed in Grenade and Gun Attack in Manchester, UK

Well Manchester is the Detroit of Britain so this does not surprise me.
You're saying instead of restricting firearm sale and ownership we should just get rid of crime all together? Good idea!
Attack the cause rather than the symptom, always an effective plan.

That is inaccurate, Manchester is a pretty friendly, vibrant and well rounded place, but the media seemed to have really exaggerated it over the last few years.
This is a rare occurrence.
And Droylsden, Oldham, Openshaw and a few other places can be quite rough though, but that's the same with every city.
This also happened about 2 miles away from me :v:
The main difference in gun control between the UK and US is that in the UK, there isn't this obsessive gun culture.
Very few people care about or have need of a gun, unlike in america where everyone and their mothers have some sort of firearm.
So gun control works in the UK as very few people have a gun in the first place. In america, if guns were outlawed tomorrow, everyone would still have one and be very reluctant to giving it up.

I work in Oldham and can agree with this. The middle of Manchester is actually all right but Oldham is pretty rough.

I've been working in central Manchester for a few weeks and it's a really nice place, especially some of the architecture /nerd
Where do you even get grenades from?
Any Co-op in Manchester
If they were actually working there should barely be any shootings, if at all, and people wouldn't even be able to obtain fucking hand grenades in the first place.
Banning weapons isn't going to magically fix your society's problems.
k except America's problem with guns is that it's piss easy to import and move guns around the country due to lax restrictions. most of the time you don't even need to import them because America contains plenty of gun manufacturers who'll produce tons of guns that are easy to steal.
in England it's a completely different story, the manufacturers there get their revenue from UK contracts and don't massively overproduce guns.

No, that's Sheffield.
yeah i doubt the victim was a hard working tax paying citizen, seems more like a mob hit because someone snitched or didnt pay back money

lmao have you ever been?
Yes, it's helping, still, people shouldn't be so desperate for money that they're robbing people with whatever they can get their hands on.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all.
Is there really NOTHING Britain can do to reduce crime besides taking away weapons?
I don't think they're desperate for money, they've just had a shit up-bringing and therefore when they see getting a job or robbing someone for their £200 phone they're just gonna pick the latter especially if they have drug problems

And it's not like nothing is being done trying to get the huge number of unemployed people in this country into work either
GTA: Manchester
I think the UK and Australia share similar gun laws?
lmao have you ever been?
lmao i was joking
I think the UK and Australia share similar gun laws?
I think they're kind of similar. You can still purchase many weapons but I'm pretty sure you would need a gun dealer's license for a lot of things.
Our laws used to be closer to what the US has though. Up until the Port Arthur Massacre you could buy anything. Think my Dad had an AR-10 back then.
They sure fix a hell of a lot of them though. Have you seen gun-related deaths for the USA vs UK? (Taking into account population)
Oh they sure did. If anyone wants to kill me in the UK, I'll likely get stabbed instead of shot, how relieving.
Oh they sure did. If anyone wants to kill me in the UK, I'll likely get stabbed instead of shot, how relieving.
Stabbing is slightly less lethal than a bullet, can be run away from and significantly harder to bring yourself to do.
Besides, check the general homocide rates, it's significantly less likely someone wants to kill you in the first place.

Of course efficiency has NOTHING to do with how many murders there are :rolleye:

I would think Homicide rates are more of a cultural problem than a weapons problem. You don't have people that will stab you to death on the street because you chose to wear a red shirt instead of a green one.
Oh they sure did. If anyone wants to kill me in the UK, I'll likely get stabbed instead of shot, how relieving.
Homicide rate is 4.2 per 100,000 people per year in the US, 1.2 in the UK.

Again that lol-culture thing doesn't make much sense.
Physical violence is far more accepted and commonplace, 6 times so, in the UK than the USA. Yet less people die as a result.

You're a very naive idiot aren't you? You've just turned around to valid arguments and gone "nope, you're wrong". There are always going to be bad people, and we're fortunate enough to live in a country where the best these bad people can do use scare tactics, instead of shooting people.
They may be desperate or stupid enough to rob people for money, but at least they're not bat shit insane to start shooting up a campus or university or gun down random people.
I've seen more threads on in this section about an American shooting then anything else, so quit looking at the problem across the sea and start thinking why so many people in your country are desperate enough to start shooting people for no reason, let alone to rob them.

You have obviously not heard about our famous football hooliganism

This isn't actually true at all.
This isn't actually true at all.
uh-huh
uh-huh
Though it's true that we come out worse than the US on various categories of violent crime, the overall comparison that makes us look 5 times worse is very inaccurate since the US statistics only include aggravated assault, whereas the UK statistics include all assault, sexual crimes, and robbery.
uh-huh
no really
