The point of jumping is to get as far as possible as in a critical amount of time.
But at the same time, when they jump there's more probability they will get caught by shrapnel while in mid-air, no? Damn I think i sound stupid.
What's confusing about that last shot is that, yes he definitely drops it at his feet, but you can see the ground where it would have landed, and it just disappears. If you look a little closer there is something on the ground that could possibly be an extension of the hole, but it's really difficult to tell.

They sure have balls. Frag ones.
Pass the HE parcel.
I feel bad for laughing at the way they threw themselves on the ground, but that's just fucking hilarious.
Recruits are notoriously terrible with grenades. A friend who was an instructor in the Dutch army once told me that with every new batch of recruits, there would always be one poor idiot during live grenade training, who would be so nervous that they'd throw away the pin and drop the grenade in the pin tray. Fortunately the fuse on those things is pretty long, so there's enough time for the instructor to duck behind cover (when that happens, they are not allowed to assist the recruit, they must 'save' themselves first), and the recruit pretty much immediately realizes their mistake and runs away. Guess that's kind of a way to weed out the ones unfit for military duty.
Fuck that mini-game.
You're just mad because I kept beating you on it.
That jump actualy looks relly smart now that I'm not laughing. It leaves an incredibly small area for shrapnel to hit when they're mid-air. Hope they have some kind of crotch-protection, though.
that's usually under barbed wire that makes it physically impossible to stand up without ripping your back to shreds by that logic we should train our EODs with live AP mines right? owait.
EOD did use live explosives and nerve agents during the 70's and 80's and I'm sure they still do at some point.
If I recall, the People's Liberation Army use surplus RGD-5 hand grenades which gives a 3.2-4 second timer ;__;
that's usually under barbed wire that makes it physically impossible to stand up without ripping your back to shreds by that logic we should train our EODs with live AP mines right? owait.
Saw a video of a ww2 special forces training where they blew grenades underwater and shot around them while crossing a river
Don't worry, it's China, the grenades are fake.
I have been looking at this video for a while now unsure of that but then it hit me. If that hole goes into the main pit then why doesn't any of the smoke jet through that hole?
It does actually, if you look closely you can see that dirt shoots up from the small hole too when it detonates.
Perfect exercise to gain nerves of steel. Edit: Yeah, seems definitely like a hoax and such a sloppy one that I believe the video was edited by amateurs indicating that it was an "unofficial" hoax too. Edit2: Or perhaps it is just a drill and the object they are passing around is not actually a live hand grenade and the explosive charge in the pit is for immersion.
Seems it went into a hole that goes into the main pit.
This, if they had dropped it you would see it laying on the ground.
China's new population control method.
