You have to, legally. If you don't follow proper sterilization procedure then your license is going to be taken away faster than you can say "malpractice".
Unless you're a dentist in Tulsa apparently, then you can get away with it for a while.
the state bureau of narcotics and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency because one of his patients recently tested positive for hepatitis C and HIV without known risk factors other than receiving dental treatment.
Isn't it a little preemptive to be accusing the guy of infecting people with hepatitis and HIV because one person contracted them and had dental work recently? There are a lot of reasons someone might not report other potential transmission vectors.

If something like this happens and there is no other known risk, an inspection is called for, to at least make sure nothing else is happening. You really can't afford to ignore it.

The guy's gonna have a hard time maintaining a practice now even if it turns out he's innocent.
when they remove your wisdom teeth, [sp]if you smell a burning sensation and a pop inside your head, that means they hit the jawbone with the drill they used[/sp]
They had to cut into my jaw and pull the teeth out in pieces to get my bottom wisdom teeth out. Here's my x-ray. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22565769/scan103.jpg[/t] Also on topic, that's horrible. I hope he faces greater punishment than simply getting his medical license taken away.
Holy fuck 7,000? How did he get that many before getting caught?
Dude, sue that guy.

He is not innocent in any way shape or form as far as I am concerned.
Glad I don't need my wisdom teeth removed.
I've had one of my wisdom teeth removed last year and it was one of those cases where they had to surgically cut the gum then drill the tooth into pieces to get it out. The procedure is completely painless except for the syringes that give anesthetics that sting like any syringe. Then you just take painkillers every 6 hours for a couple of days and it will only slightly hurt at most. I could eat normal food after like a day or so.
use an old spoon like what happened to that jewish kid in that one book
You mean "Night" by Elie Wiesel? ON TOPIC: Fucking horrifying to the extreme. I hope he gets life in prison. [editline]2nd April 2013[/editline] Am I really the only person in this thread who doesn't seem to need their wisdom teeth out?
A sad update: http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/national/dr-scott-harrington-test-results-57-tulsa-dentist-patients-test-positive-for-hepatitis-3-for-hiv 57 Hepatitis positive, 3 HIV positive. A fucking shame :/
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/rogue-dentist-exposed-7000-patients-hiv-hepatitis/story?id=18834611#.UVYnRBxJOAg I was one if his patients., Once back back in 2009 for wisdom teeth removal, never been him before that nor after. I am admittedly scared, but I am surprisingly not super freaked out. My family has assured me that my chances of getting it were low, and that since it was years ago and no symptoms have shown that I am pretty much in the clear, but of course we have all agreed I am getting tested just to make sure. Testing starts tomorrow, but me and my family are trying to decide whether a private doctor test is the way to go or to go to one of the free ones they're gonna have.
HIV can stay in your system and not show itself for a long time dude. No point in fucking around, just get checked.
HIV can stay in your system and not show itself for a long time dude. No point in fucking around, just get checked.
Read the thread, I said I knew I was getting checked regardless, and I did and I posted it was negative...

Let us all not forget, that this dentist is innocent until proven guilty.
Let us all not forget, that this dentist is innocent until proven guilty.
If he knew he had HIV/Hep or could expose people to HIV/Hep, then he shouldn't be fucking working.
I have a feeling that the 7,000 patient estimate includes all of the patients that have seen him during the frame that they suspect people could have been infected. I doubt anywhere near 7,000 people are actually infected with anything, but they're warning them just to be safe. Pretty deplorable stuff nonetheless.

Idk why I had a slight fear that when I opened this thread I'd see my Family Doctor's smug face plastered over the headlines.
